She told why they could not order a new voters register, why it is expedient to clean/validate, however you may call it. Unlike Atuguba who had Ghanaians wondering what might have taken place leaving citizens to speculate, Chief Justice was right on point. Kudos SC.

If you don't know, then get this, the EC has established all along that, one coming to register only with National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) card will not cut it, whilst cleaning off the deceased on the roll would take care of itself during the voting. Such were some of the recommendations of the five-member panel recently setup to advise the EC and the latter is working to the letter on their recommendations. So, the Supreme Court's ruling is already in motion at the house. So, Jah Kwame, it's same-o-same-o with a twist of some Supreme English, that's all.

You are not being truthful if you say the Supreme Court ruling was already in motion so there is nothing new.
The EC has resisted deleting the names of the over four million voters who used NHIS card to register. The NHIS card were issued to foreigners too residing in Ghana some of whom used the NHIS card to register.
The EC has resisted removing these people name from the register insisting that it has no way of knowing those who used NHIS card as a document to get voters ID card when actually it is easy to find out since the EC has the records of what documents one used to secure a voters card.
It is really a significant ruling and a blow to the EC to remove the names of the NHIS registrants. Though the court made provisions for those who used NHIS card to register again with different acceptable documents, those foreigners who used NHIS cards to get voters ID cards cannot register and this will prevent close to half a million foreigners from voting, the same achievement a new voters register would have done and that is why LMVC people are happy.

Massa your stupid lawyers are hiding the truth from you.their request for a new register has been thrown out.Their request for validation where any voter who fail to turn up to check and validate his name should be deleted has also been thrown out.Their only application of declaring those who registered with NHIS cards are unconstitutional thus their names expung from the register was considered. The EC was asked to delete those names and have them registered again.

the LMVCA group are an indisciplined batch of hooligans who should be watched carefully by the security agencies. They think whatever they say must be agreed on by the rest of Ghanaians. That can never be.
There will be peace in this country inspite of people saying they have G3 rifles. It is a criminal offence to smuggle weapons into the country. Permits are never given to individuals or companies to import rifles. The only groups are the security agencies and NOT any party. NPP must know that this is the only country we have.

It must be good news that LMVCA has accepted the ruling of the SC asking the EC to cleanse the voters register instead of compiling a new one. Cleansing the voters register rather than compiling a new one is what the EC has long indicated they would be doing with collaboration from all the stakeholders including the political parties and civil society. The SC has therefore endorsed the EC's plan.
The procedure for removing an illegitimate name in the register is clearly marked out in the electoral law. For instance if LMVCA knows someone who is a minor or deceased or a foreigner whose name is in the register, they must produce accurate particulars of this to a magistrate court in the area and if the claim cannot be challenged, the court will make an order for the name to be expunged. As for those who had registered using the NHIA card, it is up to the EC to reprocess them: they will be re-registered if they are able to establish that they are indeed Ghanaians otherwise their names will be expunged.

I really don't understand npp and it's knee jerk followers anf sympathisers. EC was categorical in saying long before this old n dead verdict that it will take all necessary steps to clean the register. She even said those who did double registration will be expunged from the register which npp objected to. The only difference is that the NHIS which the court has ruled on was what the EC did not mentioned in their process of cleaning the register. Unfortunately npp, the lmvc and the likes are celebrating of been vindicated. I don't see where lies a victory for npp. Simply because you called for a new register and validation which unfortunately was not granted. EC called for cleaning the register and for me EC is vindicated 100%. The only missing point for EC was how it will carry out the cleaning otherwise this verdict was not for npp or its aparachites. Give us a break. Do you think the verdict will go your way? Noooo you must be dreaming indeed. All dead bodies cannot be easily identified since no database on death and birth registry. Secondly npp thinks NHIS is a goal post for them to win. Nooo it will rather sway the people to vote NDC on sympathy basis and for that matter those affected have been given a chance to prove their nationality and re register. So where is the victory for npp? You never argued on the use of NHIS as an identity. U never argued for romoval of ghost or dead persons from the register. So what are you celebrating? I am totally confused about the way you think about this verdict. Bad loosers

Seeing that your grammar stinks to the high heavens, it is unlikely for you to understand the SC verdict. For folks like you, I usually don't like to waste my time, but sometimes its proper to put such in their place.
1) First and foremost, the EC through Perry and Afari Djan has always rejected the idea that the register had defects, which defects permanently mar its appropriateness for use. It was only after incessant harassment that they eventually conceded that the register had a problem
2) Second, what has not been openly said, and which knuckleheads like you will be unable to grasp is that the sheer volume of work the EC will have to do to identify those that used NHIS cards (>14million papers) dotted across the whole country will make this approach a complete joke and a farce. Why? Because, after the EC has spent months identifying and deleting these names, they have to notify all these people to come and register at another time. In any case, this means all those foreigners that were given free NHIS cards will have to appear in-person. This time, under the eagle eyes of the NPP agents to register again.
At this stage, the call for a completely new register will be a more feasible option. All well-meaning Ghanaians will now begin to wonder why the EC will decline to do a new register.
You see now, why this is a vindication? But of course, you wouldn't get it. Would you?
