How do you go and borrow money for 10.75% (US dollar) and give it to someone to lend it to you at over 20% (GHC)? In effect you are paying over 30%! Assuming stable exchange rates, Ghana will be paying additional interest of at least $50 million a year on this transaction. It really is reckless. The government is claiming that the funds were “idle”. Really? What does that mean? Why do you borrow funds and pay interest on it if you do not have use for them at the moment? It is clear that the GIIF does not have a portfolio of projects ready to invest in and it is weird to allocate a whopping sum of $250 million to them at this time. Is the Minister aware that the country owes N-Gas some $100 million? What about other contractors who are owed money by the government? How can you owe so much, have so much to do and yet claim to have “idle” borrowed funds? The allocation of such an amount to a private bank also has major macroeconomic consequences for a relatively small economy like Ghana. It increases the deposits of the banking system and ultimately the money supply. It has inflationary and exchange rate depreciation consequences and would make it more difficult for the government to meet its inflation target. I am surprised that the government is oblivious of these consequences. The Funds should stay at the Bank of Ghana. After all the Bank of Ghana, on its own or through its external fund managers of the caliber of internationally reputable banks like UBS, JP Morgan, Citibank, Merrill Lynch etc. can undertake whatever investment of the country’s foreign exchange that the government would like it to undertake

i have taken my teime to listen to Montie on several times and it seems they have made nana Addo their main target by saying negative things about this man. the host Mogabe doesnt remain neutral but he also contribute negatively about nana Addo. is very bad how in the name of politics young men like Mogabe and even NNP communicator like Baah Acheamfour will sit and say negative things about a man they all dream of getting to his level of achievement. Nana Akufo-Addo is not yet the president of Ghana and NPP members do not want him to be criticized what about when he becomes the president. It means that when Nana Akufo-Addo becomes the president of Ghana even people who sneeze will be arrested and charge for abusing the president. We are well aware of a extreme rightist and backward judiciary which will make sure that they imprison people who criticize Nana Akufo-Addo.
NPP members are of the view that they have the right to call the seating president thief, corrupt and incompetent, but the president has no right to respond to those insults. However they are not happy when a person criticize Nana Akufo-Addo. If NPP members are of the view that they can not do partisan politics they should ban their party and go to the village to farm. This ugly noise of NPP is to absurd.

As a lawyer on what evidence did you base your assertion? Hasn't the NPP also got similar stations with similar agendas? He also labelled Montie FM as a rabbit station. Are there not also similar NPP rat stations? The NPP believes in campaigning on issues and ideas? Can you give us a few examples? How many times have the tabloids, and even NPP stalwarts like Nyaho Tamakloe, not said that the NPP has no campaign messages for the people? Your warning that you, as a party, will come heavily on the personality of President Mahama if he does not call his people to order is a nonsensical. You are already doing it anyway, citing how incompetent he is, how he and his wife were involved in the collapse of the micro finance bank, attacking him through his businessman brother etc. Sir John, tell us something different the NPP is going to do which they are not doing already? You also said being in government is no licence to issue abusive, intemperate slanderous statements on any person. Look who's talking. Even as we speak is the NPP not doing that, and have they not been doing that since they'd been in opposition? Have you, Sir John, forgotten the pre, during the post Supreme Court era? The abusive, intemperate and the slanderous statements you directed at the President, the judiciary and named Supreme Court Judges in particular? And just what exactly do you mean by John Mahama being too weak to lead? Do you know much about management, or for that reason autocratic management? Mahama and Akuffo Addo, who is managing by fear? Which of these two has better and more democratic management skills in his party? Which one of them, at the present moment, has presidential experience of ins and outs, and complexities of running a country? Good old Sir John, you actually made a fool of yourself by saying that the NPP will continue to focus its campaign on how President Mahama have created millions more unemployment youth, formed stealing brigade, and introduced the highest electricity crisis in history. Of course we know that and we are not happy. But what about your own campaign message? Focus on what you can do for the country, not what Mahama is doing. Millions of floating voters like me, don't care what Mahama is doing but what your party can do for us better than what we are going through now. And if your party is not giving us something substantial, amid the indiscipline, the infighting and the marshal law within your party, then we floating voters will use our common sense, which unfortunately you Sir John hasn't got, to vote for the Devil we know than the Angel who have not sat on that hot seat before. So thank you, Sir John. Whoever knighted you.
