Please don't allow our corrupt officers to deceive you and make sure you don't shield anybody because they didn't enjoy the money with you.Having cheated them for the past 25 years you are still not satisfied but you are ripping them their last sweat. Remember these our gallant soldiers swore to defend the country by land,sea and air even at the peril of their own lives. Is that how we are rewarding them? Remember a nation that does not honor its heroes is not worth dying for and that is exactly what we are perpetuating against these noble men who contributed their quota and served the nation wholeheartedly. If all their UN allowances were given them during active service i don't think they will be here fighting. Its very sad that they are been treated that way.Please CDS you and i know our ex- soldiers deserve better.

The military is most corrupt internally in Ghana. Top officers are stealing from junior ramks all the time but i cant complain bcos of the nature of the job. Cds should remember he will soon be a pensioner too soon.

The ghana armed forces has grown notoriously corrupt with impunity.

I read Obuamah,s contribution to the above article with dismay. I guess Obumah is one of the bastard or ill_gotten son of a senior military officer who got a short cut to officer commission. I also guess he commissioned as a pay officer. He has shown that, he lacked knowledge about the real issue at stake. Even a class one pupil will tell you that 10 minus 1 = 9.

Therefore, suffice it to say that, if a soldier going on retirement is tag to receive an approved amount on paper but ends up being paid less than what was authorized, can you tell the whole world where the deficiency is? and why the deficiency?

These retiring soldiers are fighting a just course and the ruling will surely favour them. We know in Ghana the playing fields are not equal but God above is watching.

Ask ex_cds Quarshie, how many times his official residence was renovated when he assumed cds appointment and the amount involved. You will be surprise to hear that though no renovation was varied out, sums of Dollars were pocketed in lieu of renovation. How can a Master rub a servant. This can only take place I the Ghana Armed Foces. In addition, the wife of the ex_cds was given sole sourcing awarding contracts and she supplied goods/items at exorbitant prices to the armed forces?

Have Obuamah reasoned a little beyond his nose, he would have realized that the deficiency in amount being sought for by these 88/89/90 groups the 1983 group is also alleging same. Why? Can Obuomah tell us the accurate figure these retiring soldiers are entitled based on the approved entitled from the Ministry of Finance.

The new Cds must not stoop so low to such a desecration level but must wise up and justify the trust soldiers have reposed on him. Don't forget we shall continue to fight until we get a pound of our flesh.

Comrades, let's unite and fight a just cause.

Please for those of you commenting on peacekeeping allowances try to educate yourselves on the facts before coming on air to spill out the same usual ignorance as some of our soldiers do. Contingent allowances per soldier is quite different from what is paid to a military observer of individual police personnel who operate not as a Contingent but as individuals on their own. Check how much Nigeria, Rwanda and other such Contingent contributing countries pay their troops, and you will realize that Ghana pays much higher. In fact at $30/day, Ghana is paying $900 per month, which is quite close to the $1050 the UN pays per soldier per month to each country. The nation gets only $150/soldier/month to take care of its incidental expenses and whatever will acrue for the benefit on the nation/military. It's time soldiers get educated and stop the nonsense most throw out there. The behaviour is the reason most civilians think soldiers are illiterate and dumb. On the issue of the gratuities for the retired personnel, I will leave that for the court to decide who is being truthful since that is the route the soldiers have taken. I only pray that nobody will raise any issue again after the court's verdict. We have had enough of sheer ignorance and subsequent bastardization of this noble profession.
