Putting a Euro-bond contracted $250 million money with 10.57% interest to be paid by the government of Ghana in a private bank that will be used by the bank to buy Government treasury bills with a 24.5% interest that will again be paid by the government (the people of Ghana).

Is Tekper patriotic at all? Indeed, we have vagabonds in power. Mahama and the NDC are ready to sell Ghana to foreigners for their own gain. UBA was born out of patriotism. UBA used to be a British owned bank but the Federal Government of Nigeria nationalised it to become a fully owned bank of Nigeria because of patriotism. Tekper should have also been driven by patriotism to hand this juicy investment to Ghana Government owned banks, especially,when the motive is to invest in a Ghana Government treasury bills. In legal form, UBA is registered in Ghana but the substance of the Matter is that any profit made will be repatriated to Nigeria with lightening speed and Ghana will be back to square one notwithstanding the inflationary and exchange rate implications that will follow suit.
May God help mother Ghana.

Secondly we are not getting value for money since a chunk of monies borrowed end up in individuals pockets. Thirdly the costs of the said projects are astronomically inflated so much so that i prefer calling them "gari" quotes. A case in kind is the Kumasi airport. Just a runway costing $23 million, whereas a similar amount built three new airports somewhere. Government is not just borrowing to put up infrastructure else every fool could rule a country but "kwasea bi nti" we have a government that is ignorant of governance. All it does best is creating, looting and sharing, thereby putting square pegs in round holes.

This was as at Dec 2015. Bawumia quoted 2016 estimates and by the recent publications we are surely close to Ghc 111bn ( its cedis not dollars)

Bawumia is on record to have said that the government has borrowed $37 billion when the truth is that the total national debt is $26.3 using the prevailing exchange rate. What a liar, and some idiots believe him. On depositing of the $250 million GIIF in a foreign bank which some of you don't understand, let it be known to you that the NHIS fund is deposited Access Bank. This was done by the Kuffuor government. Go and ask whether Access Bank is Ghanaian owned. It is normal for government funds operated by various entities like the GETFUND, NHIS Fund, and lately the Ghana Infrastructural Investment Fund to be operated from viable privacy banks that have the capacity to pay reasonable interest on them. By the way, the total capitalization of UBA is bigger than those of all Ghanaian banks combined. Please try to educate yourselves and do adequate research before allowing yourselves to be deceived by knowingly lying and desperate politicians.
