Government went for a loan of 40 million dollars to procure 200 buses. So far they have done 116. You must find out why the remaining buses have not come in yet.” When the host of The Big Issue, Umaru Sanda Amadu probed further, the MP said he can provide the parliamentary report on his claims. “If you go on and begin to interrogate those buses, you will find out that the branding is chicken feed. I am saying that go and find out how come $40 million imports 200 buses, if work out the difference, [it will mean that] one Chinese bus comes up to a cost of 200,000 dollars. I think it is ridiculous,” he added.

The attempt by the new Governor of the Bank of Ghana and the latest, by Mr Adongo, is an after thought and clearly put out in a weak and sterile effort to claw back a dirty deal gone bad.
Why should Ghana borrow money in hard currency, which it is not ready to put to productive use and yet pays interests on the loan? Government turns over the hard currency to a local commercial bank. The next moment, government comes to a realization that it needs money to fund projects. It then goes to the same local commercial bank to borrow the money it had recently given out. If this is not pure logorligi banking what can it be? The defense that the money given out on loan by the government was not in hard currency but in cedis, makes the matter even worst. Did the government engage in blackmarketeering ?

Did he read Tekper's response? Where in it did Tekper made mention of what this NDC financialist is now saying.

They can twist it anyway they want, but the fact STILL REMAINS that NDC-Mahama-Tekper borrowed money in the name of the state and transferred to a PRIVATE bank and then went back to the PRIVATE bank to borrow the same money at a rate.

What this tells me is that NDC-Mahama-Tekper knew beforehand what they were going to do with money before they went to borrow it.
They had this PLOT in mind well before they went to borrow it.

So that Mahaama-NDC POLICY: BORROW MONEY IN THE NAME OF THE STATE AND BREAK THE LAW BY TRANSFERRING THE MONEY TO A PRIVATE BANK WITH WHICH THE NDC DO DODGY DEALS TO ROB THE STATE.

2. How did UBA invest the money that was transferred to them? They bought treasury bills? Guess what? Who pays the interest on treasury bills? The government.

3. So what happened was the govt loaned GHC900 million ($250 million converted to cedis)to UBA at 12% interest, and UBA turned around and loaned the money back to the govt (by buying treasury bills)and the govt paid UBA 23% interest.

4. So you see, the govt, didn't make any money. That's why the Bank of Ghana just kept the money in the account because it was cheaper.

5. As an individual, would you go and borrow money that you had no immediate use for, and pay interest for 18 months while the money just sat in your account? That's what you call madness.

Is Tekper patriotic at all? Indeed, we have vagabonds in power. Mahama and the NDC are ready to sell Ghana to foreigners for their own gain. UBA was born out of patriotism. UBA used to be a British owned bank but the Federal Government of Nigeria nationalised it to become a fully owned bank of Nigeria because of patriotism. Tekper should have also been driven by patriotism to hand this juicy investment to Ghana Government owned banks, especially,when the motive is to invest in a Ghana Government treasury bills. In legal form, UBA is registered in Ghana but the substance of the Matter is that any profit made will be repatriated to Nigeria with lightening speed and Ghana will be back to square one notwithstanding the inflationary and exchange rate implications that will follow suit.
May God help mother Ghana.

This is the same Mahama who mediated a loan dispute between his brother's company and Merchant Bank (a state owned institution) when he was vice President. His brother's company have been subcontracted in a plethora of projects for the State. Is like conflict of interest doesn't exist in Ghana.
