FIFA`s money has been coming to GFA over years. Its not new. Its only that GFA has virtually nothing to show anyone.

In a nutshell, HC Benjamin is advocating that, GFA must invest the FIFA disbursements to develop football from the bottom-up in Ghana. This is a very excellent idea, only under ideal set of circumstances.

As HC Benjamin himself can attest to, the clubs in the GPL are not operating fiscally close to, even conventional standards. It's no secret that, most of the players are not compensated on regular basis.

Given such a dire circumstance, I would suggest that, GFA goes far, and beyond the bottom-up approach of investing the revenues from FIFA. And with all due respect to HC Benjamin, GFA must come up with a strategy to invest the money for the benefit of all levels of football in Ghana.

Contrary to HC Benjamin's bottom-up approach, I'll call for a trickle- down approach. By this, I mean GFA must do the following:

A) The initial FIFA revenues must be used as seed money to set up a Ghana Football Fund (GFF). This fund would cater to just two purposes, -- football players' retirement compensations, and active football players' income protection.

B) All Ghanaian football players, -- local and abroad -- would be mandated to buy into the fund for interest that can be accrued until retirement, or paid out on need by need basis. Non-players can buy into GFF for annual interest payments or an accrued interest payment/s.

C) GFF would pay compensations to all retired football players based on each individual player's contribution to GFF.

D) Clubs can borrow, and pay back-- with interest -- from GFF to pay players' salaries in times of need.

E) Upon maturity of GFF, any financial assistance that GFA currently receives from the government, plus surpluses from GFF would be directed towards grassroots level of development.

HC Benjamin's grassroots approach is what Ghana has been doing all these years, -- at the expense of the needs of the GPL. It worked very well at the time when football in Ghana was an amateur sports, --i.e., the players held jobs. With the transition to professional football in Ghana, the grassroots approach has worked to benefit the few who get the lucrative contracts, -- to go and play abroad.

I think the trickle down approach would begin to reward the players in the GPL; whilst at the same time developing football through the grassroots in Ghana.

HC Benjamin's admonishments on what Ghana, -- as a nation -- needs to do to get ahead is always appreciated. Contrary to what he says: to us, he's not an outsider or a foreigner.

He's one of us. And our beloved Great Ghana will always cherish his love and passion.

May Lord Almighty continue to bless our beloved Great Ghana: Amen!!!
