Teach the kids the basics and fully cover the syllabus and you would have armed them edequately to answer all questions.

Giving teachers the right to set questions is unnecessary and have hidden dangers.
Teacher must teach properly and equip their students for life instead of trying to save your faces by leaking exams papers.
Why do we always seek to create avenues for corruption.

The only addition is that, the external examers must consult the teachers to know what questions are generally good but, hey, leave them to take the final responsibility and not the teachers.

Some teachers are amazing but many have destroyed the lives of kids and the less control they have exam questions and more on the job training to equip them teach well is the right way but hey, not setting exam questions, I don't trust them.

Teachers are now running parallel classes with their own curriculum and expensive book which they force parents to buy.So now we are paying for regular classes and extra classes,we buy Govt sanctioned books and are forced to buy books written by the teachers.After we pay school fees the kids are sent back home for additional funds for feeding,construction, buses and repairs.I am in the states and I am having it tough funding my son through his SS years so it makes me wonder how the average Ghanaian in Ghana is expected to put their children through school.Why do we have ministry of education if it is going to make it near impossible for parents to send their kids to school?

Stone-age education policies being practice in the twenty-first century. What a shame? Teach the children the skills they need for today's society and stop the nonsense.If you do not trust the teachers, then get rid of them.

I believe the Ghana education service must try and introduce competition by making teaching in Ghana attractive and hence introducing foreign qualified teachers to bring back discipline, the needed skills and teach students edequately instead of just providing jobs for the boys.

Foreign teachers also bring new fresh ideas.
If you don't want this, then spend a lot of time researching new teaching ideas instead of busy impregnating the students.

Ghanaians teachers are letting the nation down.

The spat of youth unemployment and armed robbery is equally the fault of poor teaching as it is of bad governance.
Please see the bigger picture.

Honesty, shut up. Assessment is a major component of teaching, hence trs must set their questions. This is why lecturers set their own questions. If you lack capacity, just abstain. This is about the future of our children.

This is just simply part of the corruption in the country,when they ask the so called examiners to set the question they do so on contract which they can inflate and share among themselves.
No wonder the standard of education keeps going down.

Incompetency on the part of teachers can't be the only reason (if a reason at al)l for such system instead all students at same level everywhere in Ghana are assessed with same questions. That way, poor performance can be apportioned to poor teaching styles and pupils' attitude towards academics and not variation in means of assessment. Also, if the said exam body and teachers follow syllabus, teachers will be on their toes to meet the target portion of the syllabus per term. It is even much easier to charge the right exam fee with this system (though that is not the case currently). Nonetheless, the body that sets the questions must constitute the teachers (if that is not already the case). The exam body must be made accountable by the mechanism that created and authorised instead of doing away with

GNAT is totally wrong here. external exams are usualy standard and kids need to prepare well for it. the responsibility of the teacher is to teach properly and the kids need to do the rest
