That is why some of them die useless deaths for no reason. The REGSEC should ensure that those officers involved are punished. Is there any well known lawyer from the area who can sue the military on behalf of the repairer and also ensure that they are dismissed? Is the minister of interior and the CDS aware?

Is it not stupid for the soldiers to attempt to strip the guy naked? Is the guy a married man? Some military men always take the law into their hands on issues that should be handled by the police. If it was my brother who was treated that way, I don't know the extent to which I can go to exact revenge. Soldiers do such stupid things and they are almost always left off the hook. The other time it was at Bawku when a teacher was arrested for whatever reason, taken to his school, beaten, molested and stripped him naked in front of his student. Should such soldiers not even be poisoned? Shooting them with bow and arrows would be an easy revenge. The arrows should even be poisoned. We have some idiots in the military who tarnish the image of the forces and must be sacked outright. Does this happen in any Developed country?

Cat, even if the victim's story is not true, it is only the law that has the right to punish. And, don't forget that what happened to that young man can happen to u or any other person. What the soldiers did is lawlessness and should be condemned by everybody. I don't know the victim from Adam or Eve. But, my appeal to the regional minister is that, he should make sure those criminals in military uniform are brought to book or else, he should count my vote out if he is counting the votes of NDC. I have always fought for NDC on this platform with the pc l bought out of my own sweat. But, l hate injustice and so l want this government to let the security agencies understand that they are not above the law and that it is only the law that has the right to punish. A word to the wise is enough.

Instead of only blaming the soldiers, how about the two idiotic chiefs and their followers who would risk the safety of the community by waging war on each other, and selfishly creating an atmosphere of fear and destruction, which caused the troops to be deployed in the area.

The Sector Heads and Ministers have failed to address these incidents. Additionally, there may have been several unreported civilian cases. Are the authorities waiting for a community to take the law into their own hands to kill a soldier or navy officer in revenge before they sit up? Is there any justification for these senseless brutalities? No one is above the law and the IGP and Regional Commanders have to ensure police officers do the right thing without fear to prosecute whoever breaks the law.

If the feuding parties stop the conflict the soldiers would prefer to return to barracks to go about their routine. Criminals are not having their way so they don't want security presence in the region. Soldiers are not above the law but also has their own rights as citizens also. A soldier would not sit down to be robbed just because he is a soldier. There should be fair reportage on issues. I laughed like no one business whenever there is clashes within civilians with weapons and the military and police are invited to stop them. Do we expect them to go on their knees to beg the those wielding sophisticated weapons? When we cripple the effectiveness of the security. Egypt tried it the first time and we saw civilians climbing over miliitary tanks to over throw their government and created mess. The second time they have adopted the apappropriate measures and they are better of. Let's ignore this stomach journalists who couldn't qualify to join military and police and have developed hatred for security agencies. Bad soldiers must be flushed out but we must not put dirt on the military and the police service and must not also politicise them. If I were to apportion blame I will place it first on the type of indiscipline emerging in our society, calibre of soldiers that are recruited. The lawyers know that if a teacher is involved in a personal case you can't sue Ghana education service so will it be with the miliitary and police service. We can't do away with our security agencies but we can do away with miscreants within it. Lets avoid selfish and foolish talk to save Ghana.

People look up to us for security but some of our officers are so much block headed by the fact that they are in the camouflage uniform and uses that to bully innocent citizens. These are the people who don't have passion to serve the nation in terms of keeping peace and maintaining order in the country, rather they want to be 'feared' just because he's in the military and end up tormenting innocent citizens. This is not what we were trained to do, that is too far below the belt. This is gross indiscipline..Sanity must be brought back into the military and it starts from our superiors..
