Regarding the food for the children, I think the whole nation is malnourished because our food is never balanced(protein, carbohydrate, fat, vitamins and minerals) Many eat Banku and hot pepper(no fish or meat), fufu and light soup, plantain and little stew etc. Look at the 'body' of a teenager in Ghana compared to his counterpart in UK, US etc. Remember "sound mind is found in a sound body"
The gov is not doing this in good faith, it is to score political points. The nation is full of ignorance and superstition but there is no public education. Blame everything on the government.

Mahama is not a thief and he has not stolen tax payers money. He has invested monies prudently into infrastructure. 2,000 people are currently employed by the National Board for small scale industries

Why are we polluting the minds of ordinary school children with our NPP & NDC madness. Are we the only country practising the so called democracy nonsense in the whole wide world ? If these kids think they have food in abundance to reject the free food given to them, why should we even give attention to this political propaganda been masterminded by some disgruntled fools ?
I will recommend the government to sponsor an excursion trip for these brainwashed children to the drought stricken sub Sahara Africa where they will go down on their knees for just one spoon of porridge. Capital nonsense must give way to common sense because we are million miles away from scientific sense.

Unlike Ghana, however, the provisions of free school meals are means tested. Kids of parents on low wages or state benefits, receive free school meals in the UK. Let's not read politics into this sad episode. The Administrators of the Free School Meals Programme should be making spot checks to determine the quality of meals being served. Don't forget the caterers are also in business to make profit. Therefore, they would be tempted to serve food to these needy kids, which they won't serve at home.

Isn't the government ashame that young, poor pupils have so much dignity that they are ready to go hungry than to eat food not fit for dogs? Next IMF REVIEW should be held in this school so that they can listen to these poor students before they start to repot that all is sunshine economically in Ghana.

The idea behind the SFP is s laudable one which must be supported by any govt. However it's implementation is has gotten us where we are now.
1. The policy was aimed at the venerable n deprived in society.
2. Was meant in the main for pupils in deprived n rural areas.
3. Was not a home-grown policy by the then govt & so depended on outside support for its implementation under certain stated conditions.
4. The support was withdrawn when the conditions were thrown overboard under the then coordinator Dr Amoako Tuffour
5. School enrolment figures were inflated with the connivance of headteachers and desk officers.
6. Non existing schools were created for monies to be paid into pockets of corrupt officials.
7. Govt now has to factor the SFP into the national budget.
8. The amount paid for a child is 80p very inadequate hence the caterers always cut corners to do the cooking.
8. Caterers are always paid several months in arrears.
9. Credits of the caterers in most cases refuse to give items on credit.
10. Greed by the caterers has role to play in this whole saga.
The solution to the myriad of problems besetting the SFP lie in looking at the whole program dispassionately devoid of partisan politics to make it how we want it. Parents shd also be alive to their responsibilities to their kids.
