I cannot understand why a lot of Ghanaians fail to see the gigantic ambiguity in this ruling.
By not removing names of those who used nhis cards to register from the voter register, the EC will not have disobeyed the Supreme Court ruling.
1 - how do you identify those who used only nhis cards as proof of cituxenship in order to be allowed to register to vote?
2 - EC will argue that they did not rely on nhis id only as profof of citizenship so they cannot tell which registered voter used only nhis id as proof of citizenship.
3. Not only will EC be vindicated. Sending that matter to the court cannot delay the date of the election. The date of the election is enshrined in law and is sacrosanct.
4 - you cannot nullify the results of the election on the basis that some voters were not citizens even if the verdict turns out to indict EC for disobeying the earlier ruling. Individuals take the fall, the results of the election will stand.
5- NPP would have been bruised and battered to sustain any further fight not considering the infighting that is already sapping its energy. Mutually assured destruction. The opposing forces are so powerful nobody seem to know how to tame them.
6- the best now for the NPP is to stop fighting a losing battle and concentrate on this Herculean task of removing a young, handsome and charismatic incumbent for a septagenarien opposition average looking but smart one.
It is hard to accept but that is what is giving the likes of Paul Afoko, Agyapong and the rest the creeps. They actually want the party to succeed but they are just very poor at delivering their message.
The signal the is sending is one of desperation. The desperation that as the voter register stands, they will not win the elections. Nobody backs the losing horse. So really, NPP are actually engineering their own lose. They are sending a signal to voters that they expect to lose if the current voters register is used. By challenging the EC you are also empowering the NDC by enhancing their confidence that they will win elections. Confidence is all it takes to win.

I lost confidence in the supreme when it took close to 9 months to bring the 2012 election petition to closure. I felt the panel were not patrotic enough. They allowed a duration that was detrimental to the economy of a third world country which vulneralbility to the slightest aberation has tremendous economic consequencies of which we are seeing now. Could they not have taken a cue from the USA where the electoral dispute between Al Gore and George Bush was quickly dispensed with even though USA has stronger institutions and economic fundamental?.What prevented our superior justices from doing deeper preliminary hearings before taking the whole nation through un necessary marathon which manifestation that honest men and women are now witnessing.Remember the cost to the tax payer in last year's legal challenge of the district council election, where a restriction to the locality would have the saved the whole nation about 300million Ghana cedis. Is this Judge doing this with the best of intentions or motivated by other tendencies. For some of us we know the Good Lord will deliver us from wicked persons whose actions are influenced by selfish contrievances.
