Nyaho's assertions are true but the sacking of those young recruits can be given a second look. Was it true that those recruits training was extremely strenuous? It is true that the training of some military men in some countries are so tough that some can even die out of that. The action of the recruits was irresponsible but perhaps the devil's alternative. Gov't must reconsider the punishment.

Yes,Prince was not in the military but people who live in the barracks see a lot of what these recruits go through except mostly the classroom trainings since most of the training grounds except may be the weapons handling are either in the barracks or just outside the barracks,the kids or the people in the barracks see some of the training programs.

All the recruits may not have been involved in the stupid act but there is no justification for their actions.

Weapon training is limited to the basics and most of the time using those heavy old second ww rifle a bit of how to shoot is given! That is why most of them would not even get any employment with the private security firms, because even there discipline is no. 1 on the programme ! They couldn't even finish the basics complaining that it was too hard! Dr. Truth, these guys were never taught any military tactics, neither were they given any modern weaponery training at the level they were, THEY WERE NOT EVEN THROUGH WITH THE BASICS- IN EFFECT YOU CAN COMPARE THEM WITH THE NOW POPULAR JHS/SHS CADET CORPS YOU FIND IN THE NUMEROUS SCHOOLS. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THEY WERE BEING TOUGHEND PHYSICALLY EVEN THIS PROGRAMME THEY COULDN'T COMPLETE BECAUSE OF INDISCIPLINE! These people have no businee in the GAF!!!

Soja go Soja come... once they misconducted themselves and they have been sacked others who wanted to serve Ghana badly took their place so that's it. If it wasn't all of them who were involved in the demonstration they should have sacked only the demonstrators but not the innocent ones but asking that all of them be accepted back is not a good idea,the army cannot change its training program to suit some particular recruits.
The foolishness of demonstrating over anything in Ghana influenced these recruits to do that forgeting that the security services don't tolerate that nonsense.

For Nyaho Tamakloe to say recruiting misfits in the army led to coups in Ghana is absolutely wrong,he seems to have lost his mind with that comment,it is on record that most of the people who led the coups in the country were the most decorated military men we had in the army which makes his statement a garbage.
His problem is always personal due to his corrupt activities that led to his incarceration for fraud,he always hide behind his fraudulent activities that sent him to jail,he pretends he dislikes coups,the very coup he used to defraud an innocent man,he thinks people have forgotten his actions that sent him and his gang to jail under the laws of Ghana.

Much as I abhor indiscipline, I think there must be a serious investigation done to unravel the real truth so it doesn't happen in future even if these recruits won't be taken back

You are a very foolish man for your comment. Am a recruit and I knoe every bit of what really transpired in the school.(What demonstration went on in the training school ?

(3) Was it not only the Senior Recruit that said "the recruits says they will go home" on the square? YES
The Senior Recruit was(felt) like a king(arrogant in the mix of all the recruits) due to the power he was given though that is the normal routine( every Senior Recruit is given power over the rest of recruits) but it is clearly known that people come from different homes and hence with different characters. In our mix he did things he felt was right and that was final.
We could have explained all to proove our innocence but due to these two reasons we did not :
(a) We are not to point out any of our colleagues when they do something wrong at the training school , we all have to keep mute and face whatever consequences the fellow recruit would have faced alone.
(b) we did not know it could sent us home but probably an internal punishment.
(4) Why would recruits that truely demanded from their hearts to be sent home for training they(we) can not afford to do again because it is hard and also maltreated,ran off the square instantly when they(we) were asked "if you want to go home step out"?

(5) If right after the "if you want to go home step out" all the recruit that was present on the square apart from the Senior Recruit ran off the square to their respective dorms then how true is it that we demanded to be sent home ?

(6) Should the square that we were instructed to go by the Senior Recruit be called "MUTINY" OR "DEMONSTRATION" when
(a) 96% and more did not even know what was going to happen there ?
(b) there was : no shouts , nothing in hands buh a vulnerable walk as some recruits even slept off because they(we) were awakened ?
A mistake of only a person has turned to affect all of us and since it's not you or a brother of yours you are talking heartlessly. May the good lord forgive You for every single tears that fall of our eyes is a curse to people with comments like yours and all those people who made this ISSUE big which it was not. ????

The military is a different institution where discipline is permeates its culture. If they are not up for it and will not obey instructions, what will happen when they are taken on. This would pave the way for indiscipline in the military with serious security threat for the nation.

Let's face it Mr Tamakloe, this was only a simple demonstration not with guns. We all know and have seen how some of the trainers/intructors take delight in seeing that these recruits suffer. Don't you listen listen to news, it's freedom of speech and they had the right to stage a peaceful right? Demonstrations are only staged as a cry for help and that's it. You should be careful about how you are handling this issue bearing in mind that these recruits can turn on us including you. This is how you cause pain unto peoples lives and when they turn onto you you again cry foul. Imagine they pain their dismissable has caused their parents. PEOPLE CAN ONLY LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES AND I BELIEVE THESE RECRUITS HAVE LEARNT IT A HARD WAY, give them a chance. A word to the wise is enough

They should know that it is hard on the training then easy on the battle field. I was once a recruit before and the hard training we had was more than wat they are complaining of. They were not serious to join the army. They should rather stay home to serve as a lesson to those who intend to join the army. They are all horrible, awful en foukin raw recruits. For the military a recruit is an animal and is part of the military terms and training.

The Ghana Armed Forces have faced such problems before and took the correct decision to disband the units involved and reform them, this time posting them to a new place - Sunyani.
First the 3rd Battalion mutinied in the Congo in the 1960s, followed by the 2 Squadron of the Recce Regiment that was involved in the abortive coup of April 17 1967.
The ring leaders were isolated and put on trial and then sentenced to various terms including death by firing squad in the case of abortive coup in 1967.
The preceding case had led to the near death from beating of the then Commanding Officer Lt Col DA Hansen, who upon recovery was transferred to head the fledgling Navy.
The stability of our country is reliant on a disciplined and stable Corp of trained officers, men and women of all ranks and wings of the armed forces.
Those who fail the test of discipline and resilience have no place in the armed forces in particular and security agencies in general and should be drummed out of service.
