The principal flaw in the African brain is unquestionably management acumen. Truly Africans are not endowed with management acumen, irrespective of the fact that management is a learned behaviour - we learn management science in school, and still come out empty.

Our country is suffering through inefficiency in government and in our individual daily acts. The remedy for this inefficiency lies in systematic management, and unless we understand that management is a true science resting upon clearly defined rules and principles as a foundation, Ghanaians and Africans for that matter will fail many times over in our institutions and in our individual lives.

The African is yet to understand the two main pervasive principles in management science - 'Build and Conserve'. Africans do not build, and do not conserve, and that is why the Chinese can come to Ghana and exploit gold and diamond under the watchful eyes of our government.

While other races would go to war to defend their inalienable rights over land and property, (for instance, the Falkland Islands war between Britain and Argentina in 1982), the African is content in giving away its national heirloom, just as JA Kufuor gave away Ashanti Goldfields Ltd. to Anglogold in 2003 for peanuts. Africans are not predisposed to build and conserve, we would rather please a colonial power at the expense of our own peoples' welfare.
