Only in a lawless Ghana that you can see these things going on,even in Somalia we don't hear these backwardness,this is happening in the heart of Ghana's capital with some animals attacking students and teachers in a broad daylight but no police to arrest these animals and make sure they spend a long time in jail.

As for GNAT,it is the most useless organization you can ever imagine,just look at their statement on this serious issue,they didn't even call for the arrest of these criminals.

The teachers should boycott classes up until the animals are caged,we can't allow these criminals to be walking freely in the country,they will do it again and others will follow if we leave them off the hook.
This a shame and a disgrace to Ghana.
That is why some of keep saying democracy is not good for that part of the world,even animals know democracy do not mean lawlessness.

The facts of the matter is,these things have been going on in the country in recent times and not a single culprit has been arrested or prosecuted which is the reason why they continue to do that and we have a very,very corrupt judicial system that will never send these criminals to jail,the next thing you will hear is the docket lost because somebody paid a clerk to trash that docket,something we didn't have in the past.
We are really in trouble,if our school can be turned to a jungle warfare.

I'm USA citizen, you are correct. Corporal punishment is unnecessary in any public sector, especially school. Disciplining children should start at home with the parents/caregivers.

The child should be punished (s)he misbehaved. That is, if a child misbehaves at school, the school authority has the power to punish her. If the child misbehaves at home, it is left to the parents/caregivers to punish her.

Teachers stay with the kids at school and know the behaviour of the kids at school much better than the parents do.

What you do not know is that,Teacher brutality in Schools,before and after independence was an eyesore.That was the time a Teacher had authoritatively more authority on a Child in School than the Parents. And
excesses were rampant and pronounced everywhere in the Country.One example out of the lot; a wicked Teacher who assaulted his Class pupils(form 3) in this Anglican Sch in the Central Region for a whole year in 1961/62,was the same Teacher to Teach them in Form 4.And you know what!. The whole Class threatened to quit Sch,b'cos they could no longer withstand or tolerate the Wickness(canes) of that particular Teacher. The Teacher resigned to continued his education at the Specialist Training College,then.Now University of Edu.Therefore,you've not
seen nothing yet.So,One Party State, Military Juntas,Anarchy,Democracy or any of the Political Parties had not a hand in what some of you describe as lawlessness.The problem is basically Institutional,in my personal opinion.
What prevents the GES or whatever to completely banned punishvment in School over the years.Suspension from School for some days is the way to go to put academic pressure on the Child,if Class work is part of the Pass Mark,etc.in my personal opinion. Anyway.

If it was you in such a situation, what will you do? Most of our schools are not protected and freely opened to the general public. I think it's time our leaders start protecting their workers on the job.
