If you answer "No" and you are searched and a higher amount is found, that is your end. These are the measures serious countries take to protect their economies from money launderers, terrorists and drug traffickers. In Ghana the lawyers of a particular Political Party have gained notoriety and made 'blood' money out of defending such criminals. I have not mentioned any names.

Now if you are a resident in the country you're flying, 10k dollars is given to you for your trip and the rest of the money is kept with the custom where a receipt is given to you to state that you have your money with them. When you return from your trip a fine is paid on the money that was taken from you and you can also be questioned.
You can only arrest when you have enough evidence to prove that the money was obtained from an illegal business.
I just don't understand all this arrest today, arrest tomorrow creating tension in the country.
Ghana is now becoming a lawless country.

Go to the US Embassy website and read what the restrictions are on what amount of money you can have on you when leaving or entering Ghana. The amount is 5,000 US Dollars.

There is nothing like celebrated solicitors in instances when the law reinforcement agencies need to do their job. One could be acquitted and discharged on one charge but could face other charges. lt don't really matters where the arrest takes place. Not until the law makers themselves abide by their own rules they requested for the ordinary citizens to follow up, total anarchy is going to be loosened upon our country and things are bound to fall apart. I once had just two bottles of madingo bitters but one was confiscated by the the customs officers at our own Kotoka so called International Airport which is not comparable to my local airport in the UK.
All said and done, I took it in good faith to follow the rules of our law makers. I wonder why Afenyo Markins is expressing his disappointment at the arrest of his client.

What Afeyno needs to know is that, law do not have respect for self styled celebrated solicitors who are in the actual sense been remote controlled by their political affiliations This learned Efutu boy from Winneba once called his own brother- in- law a batty boy or a gay in front of the television camera on one of the television stations in Ghana during a political debate.
Characteristically, Afenyo is well known in dubious activities more than what is required of him as as a qualified solicitor.
