He was finally killed through that. As a young police officer in Bolgatanga in the early 1990s, my father was buried by the family people I suspected poisoning him through drink before we could rushed down to see his corpse! I have Jesus and I stopped smoking and drinking! Why should I hide this truth. Dr Otabil God blessed you! Keep-on-keeping-on!

Dangote says " life is boring without challenges". but most of you believed challenges are the work of the devil right? That's Lazy ppl's excuse because God had given us brain.
Look at Dankote's achievent across Africa his technical college to feed back to his factories. His ability to reduce prices for his products. Get some knowlege at YouTube "FNBBusiness Leadership : Being in a room with Aliko Dangote"

Otabil on other hand, had built a college but for the wrong reason - profit. No technical preparation to feed back the graduates in into any meaningful endeavor tailored by the school for national development. The whole thing is for profit because you can estimate how much you can get from fee-paying school kids than you can with tithe-paying congregation as you can not force them to tithe as my so-call 10% can mean one cedis, but school fees are MANDATED.
Due to that, every church is building one and manning them with quake professors who quote more Jesus than knew their trade. Non christians with a high knowledge in their fields are not assigned for example most Asians can not teach over in these hypocritical church universities. That leaves school kids highly short changed as knowledge knew no religious boundaries.

When a cleaner at the Murtala Mohammad Airport in Lagos returned $30,000.00 that she found in the bathroom and got rewarded by the authorities for displaying honesty worthy of emulation, she claimed it was her upbringing by her parents and grand parents. That tells you the honesty that we had been living with long before the lying criminal Europeans came down to our shore with bible. nothing wrong with our value systems, and if any because of some interference of foreign influences that I call viruses, we have to work on it as every culture had done. The Chinese were forced by the British to become drug addicts but when the british left, they fell back on to their culture values to enable them to cleanse themselves up. Today, they're far better than the British who had try to reduce their humanity down to what Ghana is today.
In the same scenario with a pastor, everyone knows 95% of the pastor would have pocketed that money quick without any reservations a gift from God, a result of his seven-day fasting.

Mensa Anamua Otabil was born in 1959 to Dinah and Lloyd Otabil who lived on Asafo Street in Sekondi-Takoradi, in the Western Region of Ghana. He was the 4th born and the 3rd son in a family of 5 comprising 4 boys and a girl (Effie, Kojo, Ekow, Mensa and Kofi).

In his early years, his family moved to Baka-ekyir,(Sekondi-Takoradi) where he attended Anglican Primary School near Gyandu Park, Sekondi. He later enrolled in Class 2 at the Community 2 No.3 Primary & middle School (now Mexico School) in January 1966. This was when his family moved to Tema as a result of his father's promotion to Personnel Manager at GIHOC Boat yard in Tema.

After passing his Common Entrance Exams, Otabil gained admission to Swedru Secondary School (SWESCO) in 1972 and completed his Ordinary Level Studies in 1977. Is he a bad father?

That is the truth when children are being named at birth, they are told to emulate all the good things associated with the person he/she is being named after and let emulate his father's bad go of all bad ones.

If I HONOUR my father, he may be a drunk or a womanizer but I still have to HONOUR him. Honoring him means I don't have to sound like insulting or ridiculing him. We are priviledeged to know many things than our parents did. We also know of some very bad mothers. Life goes on. If my father made mistakes, it doesn't mean I should repeat those mistakes. We know better and must take the right steps. As a pastor, sometimes you are tempted to use examples of couples you counseled, your marriage, your parents etc. I would have wished that the Pastor had used a biblical example to save himself. Sometimes pastors like preaching about themselves or people and it results in such unfortunate examples.

If we are to HONOUR our fathers, then standing in the pulpit to proclaim that you had a bad father, maybe because he couldn't fend for you is just too bad. Some of us had to hawk and do all sorts of things to pay for our fees but are still grateful for the kind of parents and background we had because it has made us tougher. So how on earth should the Man of God set a bad example of insulting his father in the pulpit? There may be people who are bitter because of their background so such comments do not help heal such people. So Apostle, stop your Defence and pray for forgiveness.

What I am saying is the word of Good is the highest standard and hat Men of God in their quest to use practical examples sometimes want to cite examples from their personal lives and even couples they Cor sel and this many times bring such needless confrontations. I continued to say that there are many examples in the bible Men of God can use to still make their point. I have also said that there are many people bitter because of terrible experiences we had with our parents but Pastors have preached to us to forgive and move on. I sited my examples of how I struggled through school due to absentee father situation. However, I hold nothing against my father and will never humiliate him this way because I have earns from my bile to HONOUR him. You came in with sharp defenses making everything look like your bible supports casting insinuations and making public display of our fathers nakedness and I came back to say stop such needless defenses. God has a way of making very man know he is human so when a Man of God makes a mistake for example, like that Man of God who was caught sleeping with someone's wife at Sakumono last week, let's pray for them and not use the word of God to defend the mistakes else people could be quoting Solomon's many wives and be saying it is ok for pastor's to marry many wives, it is ok for pastors to divorce etc. this is my humble submission. I pray you allow the Holy Spirit to help you understand where an ordinary Christian like me am trying to look at things from. I hope this suffices. Thanks.

Am tempted to believe this given the fact that as a kid we're easily swayed towards our mothers at all times and in almost all cases. Secondly I wonder if Otabil could analyze and understand the marital contingencies prevailing in the home of those years. A pretty debatable issue by all standards less any judgmental conclusions.

Right from the Old testament Israel were commanded by God to take care of the Levites/ High Priests through tithes and offerings. This is nothing new but what is new is the level of deception corruption and manipulation which 'wolves in sheep clothing' are scheming and using the good integrity of belief, faith and trust to achieve their wrong motives in representing God on earth. It is a good principle which is not only apllicable to Christians but to anyone daring to practice sowing, tithing and free will offerings, the rewards can be immediate and immense!!!!!!

kanewu i can proudly tell you that God will deal with you ruthlessle. read your bible carefully, you will also see instance where fathers were good men and not good fathers. if his dad was a drunkard do u expect him to also drink.

Some great entertainers with truck loads of money could only manage a lone child and nobody will understand - live fast and die young is their motto. The women know these men. They never hide what they are. These types are attached to the Club houses. Should women who knowingly cavort with them not tell the children about the real truth about their fathers? "Your dad was a rolling stone, wherever he lay his head was his home!"

As Pastor turned out to be a good dad and preacher man, he sure inherited some fine genes from his dad which he (dad) chose not to develop. Do not be hard on the old man. Besides too, some condemned bad fathers came up against really strong will women. You can only judge your own birth father if you can travel in time and be in his shoes. A man was not given enough sex by the good wife. This affects the man's entire existence. Does the woman not love him? Is love being given elsewhere and or is he just being used? Nobody will know the trouble he is facing. Sometimes, few friends are privy to his anguish but who can save him? Because he does not feel loved, he is not able to give what he is not receiving. A man once said to me, whatever problems you face on earth, sit with your mother and you will be half-way solving it. Please, we are not talking about story time. Some monsters get this information wielding machete at their mothers. This is tops but nonetheless, it belies the kind of sitting we are talking of here.

My very good friend now deceased departed this earth without his five children by his first wife acknowledging any good virtues in him as as father. I knew the couple when they got married but love is mad the good King Solomon said. Even the eldest child could not understand why the parents married in the first place. To my knowledge, he started a very loving and dotting father but perhaps a bad husband or impossible to be. It soon changed to become in the eyes of his own both bad husband and father. Do not let the Sun set on your anger - so much harm could be done. Things happen in this world. Bad this and bad that are very subjective indeed. The Kings who ruled in Biblical Israel tells stories of several Kings making u-turns for the worst.

I believe when things do not work out well, we must search and search until we are blue in the face. Wives have quickly often times being judged good and victims because in majority of times, they end up with the children even when there is dispute.

When a man's relationship with his woman deteriorates, to be a good father becomes a challenge. If I will write about my Dad in a negative light, I will first sit with my mum as we have not sat before. It is very important. Our mums ought to strive to live peacefully with our dads and if still they end up being bad fathers, we publish them. Children will always carry the scars of the antics or misdemeanours of parents and so women have to be careful of the playboy types because they do not hide their colours. If a woman opted for the high-life, tell the child or children that comes out. Do not expect miracles please!

In any case, it is in poor taste to publish one's father negatively when we have not been asked a question. We only blame poor parentage or fatherhood when we are looking for serious term in jail. If, the good Lord looked after us and we turned out well rounded and grounded, our secret remains with us.
