So he pivots around the $30m burrowed to fund the Komenda factory to arrive at the 1114 factories by performing a Houdini maths over the amount burrowed by the NDC and actually chooses the exchange rate as at January 2009 which gives him the $40bn. hahaha.

Of course the purpose is to generate a dramatic effect but that figure is a phantom figure because Ghana has not burrowed $40bn since 2009.

This attempt is quite ridiculous and unnecessary and gives hints of over exuberance. There are so many policy and execution blunders by this government to speak about so this approach shows Dr. Bawumia as a one trick pony.

Indeed he spends a lot of times speaking about problems and little time to discus solutions in details. Such people in politics are just opportunist just waiting for their turn to lord it over us.

Its even worse coming from someone who has been in senior governance position.

How can an intellectual think that a country, even if it has the capital outlay, will in this era (21st century) just build factories all over the place without taking into consideration the issues of market for the products, sustainable source of raw materials and general feasibility of such a venture. Meanwhile these are people who, in 8 years, built only one mini-factory (cassava factory at Bawjiasi)which collapsed under their watch. They are simply LIARS, and it is sad that Bawumiah has decided to throw his integrity and future away by joining the deceitful, lying and ethnocentric power-seeking desperadoes. They deceived Ahulu Hongar and 4 others to their deaths during the 1995 Kume Preko demo only to come to power and increase everything, including fuel by 60 percent, VAT by a cumulative 5 percentage points, introduce new taxes on the private sector, TOR recovery levy and a host of others. Lest we forget the Npp government at the time abadoned the Aveyime Rice project and others because yhey were NDC projects and even that only God knows the number of factories they had intended to build which they couldnt. The more Bawumia and Akufo Addo talk the more you realise how lucky we are that they are not the ones ruling Ghana and we should simply not the mistake of giving them the opportunity to rule this dear country of ours. To start with Bawumia often refers to the $ 9 billion that Ghana owed upto 2009. The reason is that part of the $9 billion debt came from Nkrumah's administration when he borrowed heavily to build Akosombo and other infrastructure. But Nkrumah had also built several factories which were meant to increase our productivity to pay back. However, when Busia and the Progress Party came they killed off all the factories and went around the with cap in hand borrowing more money. The reason the debt level remained low is because Akyeampong refused to pay with his"Yentua" declaration which led to Ghana being blacklisted internationally. That was why the Rawlings administration was subjected to the IMF structural adjustment which in turn brought much suffering to Ghanaians.The structural adjustment, however, made it possible for Ghana to be forgiven the rest of her debt during the Kufuor administration and also being given some grants and other injections of capital to restart the economy on a sound footing. So whatever progress was made during the Kufuor years came on the back of the sacrifices made by the Rawlings government.
