Komla was liked, admired and loved by many.Out of admiration,love or both, Nana Konadu must have given financial support.Whether for feeding, tuition,boarding and lodging, perhaps, all Nana Konadu knew, or thought, was that she was paying for tuition fees, innocently.
Note: it also does not matter. We go to funerals of bereaved multi-billionaires and donate our thin Ghana Cedis. Is it because they can not bear the funeral expenses of their loved ones? Besides, some wealthy people will still jump at the least opportunity to make more money, regardless of whose purse is the loser/giver.

Every Ghanaian graduate knows there are costs to being educated in our university aside of tuition fees.

What is wrong with being grateful for the help that the former first lady may have given to Komla?
It is indeed a hallmark of Ghanaian hospitality to be assisted in cash or king by others. If one later become famous or less needy, it behoves on them to honour the good lord by appreciating every little contributions that those who care have made. Only Komla can confirm whether he did indeed receive financial assistance from Mrs Rawlings or not. And knowing the humility with which Komla carried himself, he would certainly have acknowledge the assistance others gave him and be grateful for it.
Komla could not have achieved those high heights without the assistance of others.
There is nothing denigrating about admitting that others helped one in times of need. Indeed, former President Rawlings himself once acknowledged that his friends helped him to educate his children abroad.
There is nothing wrong with that.
I am yet to come across a single Ghanaian who has not benefited from extended family and friends in their life.
Be humble, shut up and give praises to the lord almighty that Komla was so loved by other that they were willing to assist him in his time of needs.

I am half ewe and half Akan,i know some ewes who borrowed money from people to go to University ,after graduating and securing jobs,their parents came to say that they paid their school fees.
Sometimes some parents don't know how their kids survive so i don't doubt Konadu.My grandfather Dzokoto brought Adadevoh,Amenuvor,Mensah,Abbah from Anyako to Takoradi.After they became wealthy,they said they came to Takoradi on their own.
My siblings did the same thing.

I don't think we paid nothing at all in those days. I was in School at that time too. Any little money was helpful and such support may have been given a wrong name as tuition fees by Nana. The family cannot be right.

I was expecting that before anyone points a finger and call others names, that person will look at the logic of the argument that the family has put out; when their departed son and brother graduated from University of Ghana, no tuition payment was in place. Secondly, the parents are not paupers. They could have taken of his tuition if there was a need for that, but there wasn't anything like that in place.

May be from the dad's point of view, it was enough, but for a guy who wanted to flex among friends, that may not have been sufficient and he may have exploited his family's connections with the Rawlings family. Ghanaian children did that a lot, i.e. expecting and taking gifts from family friends and other relatives. May be Konadu shouldn't have used tuition but stated she supported him somehow. In his last year in SSS, a junior brother came with stories about our papa not being able to pay his school fees. I willingly gave him the money without consulting papa to know the truth.

Years later, I was shocked to hear from a younger sister that this same brother in his last year in school collected school fees from her with that same mischievous story.

Did I pay my brother's school fees or not? Did the younger sister pay school fees for our brother or not?

The Dumor family may not know the whole truth. If Mrs. Rawlings has the receipts let her prove this publicly to save her face in this matter, because the Dumor family has come out too strongly to portray her as a pathological liar which is not good for her status as a former fisrt lady.

You'll not live long to see the fruit of your labour on earth if you persue this evil agenda each day you try to make your comments by insulting others just because he or she did not go the way you prefer. Your insult will never change someone to come to your side. Understand that voting is like casting a lot. It's very decision is from the Lord.(Prov.16:33). So after God has taken the decision you have to respect it. This is because there's no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have being established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgement on themselves. My candid advice is to read Romans 13:1-7. God bless you if you make the effort to understand it. May the good Lord forgive you if you pretend as if you don't understand and give you another chance so that we can leave in peace in the country during and after the 2016 election. Every Ghanaian graduate knows there are costs to being educated in our universities aside of tuition fees.
What is wrong with being grateful for the help that the former first lady may have given to Komla?
Blessed is the hand that giveth and the one that taketh.
It came up in an interview. The former first lady did not just blab it out. If you have been tell them to let the whole world know. It shows that you appreciate their help however small.
In your success, such help often looks so insignificant but would have been nonetheless a lifeline at your time of need. They have indeed earned their bragging rights. Komla would have been the first to sign the former first lady’s praises if he was alive.
It is indeed a hallmark of Ghanaian hospitality to be assisted in cash or kind by others. If one later becomes famous or less needy, it behoves on them to honour the good Lord by appreciating every little contributions that those who care have made. Only Komla can confirm whether he did indeed receive financial assistance from Mrs Rawlings or not. But that is immaterial. And knowing the humility with which Komla carried himself, he would certainly have acknowledged the assistance others gave him and be grateful for it.
Komla could not have achieved those dizzying heights without the assistance of others.
There is nothing denigrating about admitting that others helped one in times of need. Indeed, former President Rawlings himself once acknowledged that his friends helped him to educate his children abroad.
There is nothing wrong with that. It is humility par excellence. It is indeed the secret to Rawlings’ charisma – appreciating others. That is indeed what has also propelled Nana Akuffo Addo and John Mahama to their current positions. It is Godly too.
I am yet to come across a single Ghanaian who has not benefited from the generosity of extended family and friends in their life.
Be humble, shut up and give praises to the lord almighty that Komla was so loved by others that they were willing to assist him in his time of need.
