  Filth has engulfed the Capital and we are paying a mayor for this. What is AMA collecting dues from us for. If we have to clean outside our homes then we might as well get rid of AMA as they are of no use to use to us

  Sanitation is a serious problem for the whole nation.It is much pronounced in Accra and Tema because of the population density and their proximity to manufacturing companies.Our lack of comprehensive national approach to sanitaton is threatening to spiral the country into intermittent but permanent epidemic outbreaks .There has already been several outbreaks of Cholera in Accra which we failed to connect to the appalling sanitation conditions people live in.Things are going to get worst because our increased population generates more garbage and our open economy market brings in more and more products which we haven't yet learnt how to dispose off after use.This is a potential national crisis waiting to happen and must not be politicized.We must bring in advisors from China,Japan,America or Germany who have successfully created very comprehensive nationwide systems to properly treat and dispose off the trillions of tonnes of garbage they produce every year.My preference will be Japan which has successfully managed to transform garbage directly into electricity.But first we will have to educate the people to effect changes in our habit of trash disposal. Throwing trash into allotted trash bins goes a very long way to begin the effort of digging ourselves from this garbage problem,so to speak.
