Some of us have always known that the NPP strategy of labeling the President as corrupt was a strategy to hide their own massive corruption in their party. if there was ever a doubt, Chairman Wuntomi's aide has erased all that. Now we know NPP better.

PLAINTIFF SHOULD GO BACK TO COURT
The ruling of the Supreme Court (SU) leaves much to be desired and a lazy piece of work, in my view. If this is not reviewed I think our democracy is at risk and I will be willing and ready to partner anybody who suggests anything apart from democratic rule.
Before I engage in my analysis there is the critical need to establish certain facts which are not my thinking but constitutional. It will be on these facts that I will engage in the analysis.
The only body mandated by the 1992 Constitution to compile electoral register is the Electoral Commission (EC). This implies it is the Commission which has the primary data on the people on the voters’ role. This is one of the functions the EC has been mandated to perform.
The EC has in its earlier interaction with the public made it clear that in the process of registering potential voters the type of ID used was not captured whether NHIS, Drivers License etc. The registration conducted by the EC was in millions and all these people used some sort of IDs. How can the EC differentiate those who used the NHIS card from the rest if it did not originally indicate the type of ID used by each prospective voter? For the EC to be able to pull some list of names as those who used the NHIS card demands we find out how they did it.
Based on the above foundation the list produced by the EC must be put to a strict proof than to accept the list as presented. In an earlier discussion I suggested that the EC should engage us in a process common in Auditing called ‘’walk through test’’ or compliance test. This test will prove the genuiness of the list and whether the list so produced comprises the whole persons who used the NHIS card to register. The result of tis test will call for the extent of another test called Substantive test, again in Auditing.
It is therefore not enough for the Court to accept the explanation of the EC for the sake of it. Anybody can produce any list and say it is the list of persons who used the NHIS card to register if it is only names we want to see. Those who understand Hypothesis Theory will appreciate the angle I am coming from. We can also think of Scenario building.
The list produced by the EC can really be the full list of NHIS card users, it can also be a fraction of the NHIS card users, it can be a mixture of NHIS card users and those who used the approved IDand finally but not the least be a list of those who never used the NHIS card. These are possibilities based on the foundation that the types of IDs used for registration were not originally captured on the registration forms.
For some of us we see this process of cleaning the voters’ register of legally unwanted persons as a useful enterprise so it must be done well to its logical conclusion. It is important we create a level playing field at least in the base document used for the election. The incumbent has too many advantages which we talk about but are not able to address. Our democracy is half crippled with this kind of situation. Even though I will agree with those who will say we cannot have a perfect system but we can work to a high degree of perfection if we set ourselves to do it.
I have said it several times before that our democracy is in danger if politicians especially the incumbent is allowed to exploit the loopholes to its favour without the ordinary person being the one to freely and fairly chose his/her leader. If the politician and not the people can determine how the elections go then there is no real sense in engaging in voting. Politicians have taken us for granted for far too long even though we always say the elected are to serve us. The sovereignty of the state seems to be derived from the politicians than the citizens. One can argue politicians are also citizens but what is their percentage of total population?
The bloated register we all know was caused by politicians to gain advantage, there is no level playing field. For me this is a recipe for disorder and chaos unless we all stand up and cause things to order. The problem is that they have arrogated to themselves the wealth of the nation so much they get attraction from the vulnerable and even intellectuals in the society. The seeming tension in our politics is the exclusive allocation of the nation’s wealth to a section of the population when all of us have contributed to this wealth.
I will use this opportunity to advise the plaintiffs to go back to court with a fresh request which I don’t want to discuss on this platform. The current judgment seems to have put the onus on them instead of the EC which will never resolve the difficulty of providing a level playing field. There is nothing wrong to do validation if that will resolve the problem we have on hand. If we are avoiding the use of the word ‘’validation’’ then we should go for a compulsory exhibition where those on the register now will have to visit the polling stations when the register is being displayed.
I want to use this opportunity to call on the minority in parliament to be supportive only when the EC is ready and willing to do what the majority of Ghanaians want aside those who intend to benefit from the bloated register.
Let me use this fine opportunity again to advise some of the minority parties to open their doors for fine ideas to assist them prosecute the elections. One Nigerian friend said this to me ‘’ two good heads are better than one good head.’’ It is not always about money but there are other key things which can help in dealing the required blow to your competitors. I am proud to be a beneficiary of two extreme conditions in life which make me understand the Ghanaian situation very well. Born in Nima and grew up living in this place, Mamobi and Kotobabi during the greater part of my life as a person. I used to live very close to the family house of Kwesi Pratt Jnr’s in Kotobabi. The experiences gained in these areas make me appreciate the concerns of the vulnerable and can easily ‘’walk’’ into their lives.I am therefore considering myself a potential person to contest for any political position in future. The mediocrity must be put to rest sooner than later.
