The centre has several racks of computing equipment , including high performance and sufficient power conditioning resources to keep the data centre running.

The deputy Energy and Petroleum minister is talking rubbish. Every damn fool knows that the cause of the current power shortage is that the government has no money to buy fuel to generate power. It is falsehood to say that only Nigeria can supply the crude Ghana needs. That is a complete lie and rubbish.

The solution in Ghana and for that matter Africa's energy shortage lies in a switch to solar. That is reliable and sustainable, though the initial capital investment is high, it is cheaper in the long term. The sun is free and in abundance in Ghana so what is the the Mahama government waiting for? Had all the huge sums of money spent on the Ameri contract been invested in solar, by now Ghana would be more secured with power supply.

For example, the government can start by providing solar energy for all public institutions that consume a lot of power such as hospitals and educational institutions from secondary schools to universities. That will reduce the demand on the national grid and the next stage could be ministries, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies. It appears the government is not thinking out of the box.

Seriously speaking, it that bad to warrant the closedown of companies, loss of profits and loss of jobs.
