Flight paths to and from an airport follow definite patterns and you could not just fly over these locations anyway. An approach to a manned port will have holding patterns meant to keep order and prevent accidents. These are given with specific altitudes, speeds and clearances ie over built up areas and local legislation on noise for example.

This new legislation about helping travellers and keeping airlines in check doesn't add up. In an airliner you cannot break formation while on hold and waiting for permission to land and decide you want to take a tour over the castle or the presidential palace. A pilot can point out local landmarks while on hold and ask passengers to look out of either the port or starboard windows but on final approach when the aircraft is lined up with the runway and coming in for a landing you cannot do a sight seeing tour.

And why these specific structures anyway? An airliner is not the sort of craft to go for a close-up in if you want see these landmarks.

It is only relevant to prevent any aerial recce using drones near or over these facilities. The use of helicopters is not prevalent enough to suggest that they will be used to fly over these landmarks, so they can also be discounted.

Coming particularly now, the question is: What is hidden in these areas or what will be hidden in thsse areas?
Someone is worried about keeping prying eyes away from these facilities during the election, and the question is why?
