No matter what the NPP says, the president SHOULD pardon the Montie 3 after one month or two months in jail.

Any decision he makes on this case will not make any NPP change their mind and they will never vote for him anywa ...

No matter what the NPP says, the president SHOULD pardon the Montie 3 after one month or two months in jail.

Any decision he makes on this case will not make any NPP change their mind and they will never vote for him anyways, so why not grant them clemency after a month or two.

For the NDC members, if he does not pardon the Montie 3, then it means he is going against those NDC members who have signed the petition for pardon. I don't think the president will like to lose some of his NDC members by simply not granting the pardon. They will see him as weak for not exercising his powers to free the Montie 3 after lending him (the president) their support by signing under the petition.

So, Mr. president, grant the pardon after a month or two and save your core NDC members. Forget the NPP. No matter what you do, they will not defect to vote in your favour.

Stick with your core NDC members in this case and you will not go wrong.

Unless the lecturer thinks the electorate has extreme short term memories he needs to go back and rethink his logic. The issue for most at the election is having a stable economy with reduced corruption and infrastructure that works (no dumsor dumsor).

The lecturer's logic is like saying somebody who has wronged you for years (time and time again) will be forgiven because on one occassion out of countless he chose to do what is the EXPECTED thing. Unless Lecturer is telling us that following the rule of law is somehow seen as commendable rather than normal (as in most democratic countries).

I don't think Ghanaians (I hope) are that simple minded.

The President can never be misled by these aza people who would in no time turn around and tell NDC supporters how uncaring the president is to their imprisoned members. We can see through their tricks. Why did Kuffour release jailed taxi drivers in 2008 in the middle of elections? What one president can do, another is also entitled to. President Mahama can take advantage of the situation by keeping his intended secret, prolong the guessing game, and keep NPP and all these surrogates guessing for long. Since the NPP is making this issue a central part of their manifesto, the President must prolong their anxiety by refusing to talk while discretely maintain touch with the Montie 3. That is the superior strategy. Keep your opponent in a guessing mode.
