The president should read them thoroughly and should solicit the advice of his lawyers and the council of state before arriving at a decision. Mahama is facing a dilemma or quagmire. He is probably contemplating not to let the Montie trio down and losing some votes for doing nothing. If he chooses to act by exercising his prerogative mercy power, he must take cognisance of the separation of powers existing between the judiciary and the executive.

Those advocating for freeing them and most of whom are NDC members will vote for the President in gratitude for freeing them or refuse to vote for him as a sign of demoralisation or despondency for not freeing them. And their numbers can be very huge. It is the President's choice to make.

So why the risk of pardoning them. The President should allow them to be comfortable in jail for four months, so that people won't take advantage of 'presidential person's and speak NONSENSE on the airwaves and expect to be pardoned.

I have noticed that, since these Montie 3 were jailed, there has been some sanity on the airwaves.

The best NDC can do is to give them a heroes welcome when they are freed.They can take advantage and get sympathy votes. President Mahama shouldn't free them as a precedence and also as a deterrent to all nonsense in the mouth of some Ghanaians, especially Kennedy Agyepong.

The Court already has mud on its face regarding its unconstitutional conduct in charging an trying the Montie3, and that alone should be enough. No use in the President getting into a fight with the Court, for that would be a distraction not worthy of anything. Justice Akuffo and the NPP are salivating to see the President pardon the Montie3, for obvious reasons, and the President should refrain from taking the bait.
