Why don't the govt help the poor prof with an updated list.
Moreover, if 1 out of 4, it means about 30% are from probably the combine three north most regions.
I hope the prof is not counting all Muslim names as northerners.
30% is about fair and right especially since Kufuor's govt could not find even 5% and blamed it on trained expertees.
Even if it is truth there is bias, I will give the north the benefit of the doubt to also manage and prove themselves.
Again, the male shovenist prof forgot to also seek female representation, something seriously lacking in our body politics especially since women out number men but are under presented.
It is all about filling the office just to do nothing but reap the nation off. MEN WILL ALWAYS BE MEN.

There's no doubt that President Mahama has disproportionately packed his administration with his people from the North. That's a fact. My problem with you Prof. Adei and your ilk is that that was precisely what Busia and Kufuor did when they came to power.

As soon as they assumed the reins of governance in 1969 and 2001, respectively, both Busia and Kufuor summarily dismissed large numbers of Ewes and filled their positions with Akans. We all remember Busia's Apollo 568 which led an Ewe man, Mr. E. K. Sallah, to sue Busia and his administration at the Supreme Court which unanimously ruled in his favour. The court thus ordered his re-instatement. However, Busia strangely appeared on national TV and declared that no court could tell him what to do.

When Mr. Kufuor came to power, he filled the positions of the Ewes whom he had dismissed not only with Akans but with his Asante folks. At a press conference Kufuor was asked why his appointees were overwhelmingly Asantes and his response was that it was the Asantes who overwhelmingly voted for him to become president and therefore he had to employ them.

My beef with you Prof. Adei's complaint and those other Akans with you is that when Busia and Kufuor did the same thing, they seemingly justified it and didn't complain. Now that President Mahama seems to have followed their examples, they're now complaining. Was all that not nepotism? Did they complain then? What kind of hypocrisy is that? Why is it wrong if Mahama puts his people in positions but it wasn't wrong for Busia and Kufuor to do so?

So learned professor, it is not all information on the Internet that is credible. This is a common mistakes that students make and hardly would society expect you as a professor to make this mistake. The correct source for you would have been Government of Ghana website to get the accurate information but even then you ought to look at the last date it was updated. It the last update was remote, you need to cross check from other governmental sources.

If that is what the so call professor has done then he is a disgrace. He is not wearing any critical mind as people may be thinking. He should be described as one with very low intellectual capacity. I say this because, from all indications, that is the way he is gone about things. He is an embarrassment to academia.How can he approach his research work that way. His approach is just stupid. Indeed, stupid is mild, it is idiotic. The right way is to compare appointees from each region of the north to any other region of the south. Could people also add up all appointees who were southerners or from the seven regions and treat them as coming from one region and then compare with each of the regions of the north? Adei is doing all these for partisan political reasons. He is doing all these for NPP, period. He is bound to fail and he has failed already.

But fundamentally this notion of affirmative action in the distribution of government appointment may be good politics but can be a bane for our country if it is allowed to become a litmus test for good governance. I don't care if President Mahatma appoints all his ministers from Bole- Bamboi or the village of Paga or Lawra as long as they are competent and can achieve results that would make a difference in our lives. Every one born in the confined boundaries of our great country is a Ghanaian. The problem is the only credible enterprise in our country is the Government. A lot of our politicians( include the 10% contractors) have no other lives. They seek power for the actualization of their wealth dreams through the thievery of the people's Treasury ( inflated contracts). That explains part of this affirmative action for all tribes, And it is hypocritical for my Northern brothers on this medium to see what the Prof. said through the lenses of tribal hate. This complex of minorities hate by Akans has never been actualized nor will ever since the founding of our country Ghana. Yet the political elite feed on such complexes for political again. Divisive politics has not been exclusionary in our political dispensation. The current president went to Mampruh land to tell them their native son who is the Veep candidate of the opposition is not their true brother? Ade fri Ofei a eye, Yen Akanfo, Akans have most of the natural resource wealth , etc. These embacilic utterances from our political elites undermines our Coexistance as a people with common destiny.
I do not agree with Prof Adie's comments even if the facts are on his side but the larger issue is inclusiveness and the sourcing of available talent, juxtaposed to the current competence ( based on performance to date)of the team President Mahama has assembled to run the affairs of the country. But then again he will have to answer to the people on December 7, 2016. If we hire him again , then it would be our destiny.

There are ten regions in Ghana five with none-Kwa speaking tribes so if out of every four appointees one is a none-Kwa speaking person there is nothing wrong with that. NPP from 2001 to 2009 had only one Ewhe as a minister and even did the best for the Volta Region by imprisoning many people from the region on false allegation, supported by a partisan judiciary and implemented.

The Confederation of Governance Assessment Institute (COGAI) wish to state clearly and emphatically that the “research” by Prof. Stephen Addai on President John Dramani Mahama”s appointments is divisive and must not be encouraged for the sake of peace and unity in the country.

The former rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, GIMPA, Prof. Stephen Addai accused President Mahama of practicing nepotism in his appointments. According to Prof. Addai, his research findings indicates that one out of every four of the president’s appointments come from his area of origin (north) which he believes will not augur well for national cohesion.

COGAI believes that this statement is ethnocentric and geared towards creating divisions rather than promoting national cohesion. This is because; every government is expected to work with competent officials regardless of their ethnicity or origin. Ghana is not immune to this assertion, thus Ghanaians needs competency not ethnocentrism. Moreover, these public officials appointed by the president are Ghanaians and also deserve to serve in public offices if they are competent.

Was Prof. Addai aware that, former President Kuffour had more public officials coming from his origin and how his (President Kuffour) appointment made impacts on the nation’s development?

The question is, are we looking for competent Ghanaian officials to work in our public offices or we want public officials to be appointed based on their origins. This kind of statement brings ethnic conflicts and civil wars, apparently, that of the Hutus and Tutsis in the Rwandan genocide where the Tutsis were perceived to have greater wealth, social status and are found mostly in public offices compared to the Hutus.

COGAI pleads with the media and general public to treat this statement from the professor as dangerous and tantamount to bringing down the peace of the nation, thus should not be encouraged for media and public discussions.
