Their Tribal or Ethnic backgrounds have nothing to do with their decision to join the US Army. And remember that you could hardly be a model African, yourself, who reserves any right to impugn the love of these folks for Africa.

By the way you describe these emissaries of Ghanaian resourcefulness and talents, you've proven to be lacking the fundamental essence of being a Ghanaian and African.

I have two sons in the US Military, one, a Marines veteran, and the other in the Army, now deployed. Both have exemplary character and laudable skills, large hearts and better understanding of the World than you seem to have. Their commitment to helping bring Peace around the World and mitigating any circumstances that would otherwise hurt Ghana and Africa is unquestionable. And just so you know, they are not of any of those Tribes you so confidently claim to be the sole source of such Ghanaians in the US Military.

So, I take deep exception to your offensive comment, and would challenge you to any debate to prove your relative ignorance as you exhibited here. You seem to be one of the folks who have very limited appreciation of the complexities that govern the World, today, and why we have come to have such intractable depravity in Ghana and Africa.

Lastly, it takes an intimate awareness of others to understand why they do what they do, and be more effective in dealing with them. Our sons and daughters in the US Military learn a lot, and absorb many positive experiences to share with relatives and friends around the World. If nothing at all, they learn how not to be as corrupt as many of us are in Ghana. If they were in Ghana, they might as well join the Ghanaian Military for similar reasons that they joined the US Military. Therefore, Andy-K, you may gain something by these very folks you call stupid, in one way or another. Shame on you!!

First off, the USA is not the devil. She has its share of evil just as we have in Ghana and elsewhere. You seem to be one of those who conveniently define evil to exempt themselves from being inducted by it, occasionally or otherwise.

Just so you know, the US Military has diverse political and moral representations within it, even though the members work in cohesion to project the Nation's policies, and aspirations as presented to them by their Commander-In-Chief, the President.

Therefore, you make a big error to condemn all of the Soldiers to damnation. Many of the Soldiers do more to help the average Citizens of the countries they are at War with than the Governments of those countries themselves. So, if you were God, who, between the two sides, would you help to survive?

Open your mind! There are a lot I could help you to learn but cannot do so on here. Besides, the missions of the US Military are often modified by new Presidents. When mistakes are made in the past, they could have a new mission to correct the errors to bring about Peace and well-being to its opponents. It is therefore wrong to assume that the US Military is somehow blood-thirsty and simply picks and chooses where and who to fight and kill to satiate such thirst.

As much as we may agree in all honesty that certain policies of the US' might have hurt us in Ghana and Africa, or elsewhere, it is always more illuminating to research and probe what factors led to those policies, and how our own local leaders might have behaved to either encourage or dissuade such US Policies affecting us.

It may well be said that the fact that some others committed some horrible acts in the past must not necessarily deny them any attempts to remedy the present. But even as we see some of the brutalities against Blacks and other minorities in the USA linger on, we ought to admit that it could have been worse had it not been for the mitigation of some USA Citizens of all races, color and hew.

We have a Black US President today who has been criticized both by many from his own Black Community and the white Community. The Blacks blaming him for not doing enough, and the white blaming him for being too sympathetic towards the Blacks' continued targeting for various institutional mistreatment.

One thing we should all understand is that the Centuries-old discrimination against Blacks and other minorities in the USA could hardly be purged out of the Nation in a short period of time. Obviously, not in one Presidential term or two. But we must understand the basic truth that for those who are the victims of any brutality, the desired change can never come early enough. Those who are the perpetrators and wish to keep the status quo always put impediments in the way to frustrate the moral advocates seeking change. So, when things seem to slow the change, we must not assume that no one cares to bring it about.

We are always eager to point out the evils against us from those outside. We get lost in those efforts to worry about our own behavior that made those external evils stay long among us. In fact, while we have always blamed the West for all our calamities, seldom do we acknowledge our own local systems that might have been treating us similarly even before the West discovered us. Many of such systems still exist among us while we scream with stentorian voice for the outsiders to cease their atrocities against us.

I would rather wish we initiate a much stronger effort at home to practice among us what we wish the outsiders did with and for us, before, or simultaneously, calling for the outsiders to quit hurting us.

We recognize the wicked treatments meted out to us by the early Western interventionists, from the British to the Belgians, from the Dutch to the Portuguese, from the French to the Spanish. But we must as well acknowledge our own practice of such evils against one another for periods dating long before and overlapping into the era of the Western presence when we were complicit in their brutalities against many of us.

In modern history, Ghana's own social, economic and political calamities have been a mixture of local causation and complicity with the outsiders. So, we must be fair in seeking an end to such inhuman treatment of us from all sides.

While we might be lashing against lynching of Blacks in the US, we sat aloof to let the slaughtering of our own by our local Powers continue. Even traditionally, people were killed to be buried along Chiefs who we primitively believed ought to be served after death along their spiritual journey to the after-world.

We captured and sold our own into slavery. And we still practice slavery in other forms in Ghana and other parts of Africa. We sat by to let the Kone's create murderous gangs like the so-called the Lord's Resistance Army. We sat there to allow Charles Taylor slaughter and maim thousands of Liberians. We sat there to allow children be subjugated to all kinds of atrocities in Witch-Camps in Ghana. We killed many in our Coups without proper Adjudication. I could go on and on. Yet, we blame the West without doing much about our own brutalities against our own. Economically, we are the ones who solicit for outside partners to steal our Assets and resources. No foreign country has, in our modern times, invaded us to occupy our Mines and Forests or Oil Fields. It is our own leaders who sold us out for their selfish ends. So, where is your justification in denying that America could not be a force for good?

Just remember that there are many White Americans who are ever ready to assist the good among us to end all these atrocities from within and without. But have we shown enough momentum and mass support to see that happen? We generally have a short attention span, and easily give in to economic hardships and relent.

But in a World where dog eats dog, we must show perseverance and resolute commitment in gaining and keeping freedom and comfort for our Citizens first. Our failure to do so is what makes us all the more vulnerable.

Please those of you who are insulting this soldiers are very primitive. What they are doing is very good for themselves and their colleagues. You people back home think you can only learn something from the west ,but you can't return the favor. I have been to the army in Ghana and i work as a nurse here in the US. A lot of Americans return home from war zones and killed themselves because of stress. Jamma is a good form of relieving stress. I remember when we were at the Army recruits training school that was what helped us through it.
