It is common belief (whether true or not) that many people from border communities in our immediate neighboring countries like Togo and Burkina troop in to vote during Presidential elections. Besides, I don't see any hatred in challenging your nationality especially when you live near the border. In any case, are we better than the Togolese? The NDC/EC admitted that the registered NHIS voters were more than 7m (ie more than half of the reg. voters) so if Bawumiah says there were 10,000 in one region he will be right. finally in their presentation of list to the court it was 56,000. We, including Koku, are all queit. Let the EC spokes team- NDC and Koku Anidaho personally clear the air. We are silent because Mahama and NDC will be chased out,that is the only solution. I am happy all the opposition parties are aware of this. Let them unite for this purpose.

I'm half Asante and I can tell you in all honesty that the average Asante does not hate any tribe, much less Ewes. I'm always surprised when I read comments on this platform that suggests any hatred against Ewes by Asantes.

There are certain things that the average Asante may feel uncomfortable with when he encounters an Ewe man but as far as I know, hatred against any tribe is not in our DNA. It is not common for an Asante to give preference to his fellow Asante in a pool of people with diverse ethnic background. You can do your own checks but if you're truthful to yourself, you will know that I'm absolutely right. That is why I find it ridiculous to read that there is an Agenda to rue Ghana and some tribe is frustrating that agenda. If that were the case, then Akufo-Add would still not be the flagbearer of the NPP after two failed attempts. They would have rejected him for a more likable candidate in Alan Kyeremateng or any other so as to win political power and manipulate the system.

I know that there is a very common negative feature among Asantes and that is insults and speaking our minds in your presence, but that is it These insults are not only directed towards Ewes, but every other group including other Akans. But just as I believe it is a bad behavior, I must also point it out that it is not only Asantes who insult. In fact, it is generally assumed that any person with similar features of the average Akan or Asante who speaks Twi is an Asante. Every tribe insults but I guess because many non-Akans reside in Ashanti Region, we are more likely to be accused.

With respect to Ewes, I think the general perception among Asantes and I believe other Ghanaians is that, Ewes look for their own whenever there is an opportunity. When one Ewe occupies a certain position, he will push more Ewes in there at the expense of people from other ethnic backgrounds. This practice is more common among Ewes and if we are honest, most people will attest to this.

There is also that perception of juju, in that, the Ewe man will eliminate you when you compete with him at the job place. That perception made many people suspicious and in some cases develop some amount of fear for Ewes especially when you fault them but I guess that perception has gone down over the past few years due to the integration and mix at work places and schools.

In spite of all these, I know that the average Asante man does not worry over the Ewes or Voltarians. What at all will an Ewe do for you to hate them? Ewes hardly speak their minds when you live with them, very few will show any emotion. Apart from the internet and the Ewe politicians like the Koku Anyidohos and Ablakwas, you hardly know their thoughts. They are not known to be violent people. They are good looking, especially the fair ones, and they like civil service. To my mind, that is the general perception we Asantes have about Ewes. They never considered as rivals or "a thorn in our flesh". Is there even a competition among tribes in Ghana? Maybe there is among the politicians, but I don't get that feeling among my people.

To be fair, if there is one particular tribe that should be accusing Asantes, then it's not Ewes, but rather people of northern extraction because they are closest to Asantes and have borne the brunt of painful insults but again that is not limited to only Asantes. Every tribe does that, including yours, though I believe the insults are not necessarily hurled because of our hatred for their origins. It is rather the politicians (especially the NDC) that are exploiting those tendencies and sentiments.

We may have all experienced some form of stereotypes and discrimination from people of other ethnic extraction. I have experienced a few, but I don't hold it against the whole tribe. I don't waste my sleep over them. Neither do I equate the NDC to Ewes because political parties are formed based on ideologies. Therefore, if a politician plays the ethnic card, then it means he is lacking and feels inferior and wants to take cover under the umbrella of his tribe.

As soon as PNDC came to power, they seized all the enterprises owned by the Akans but allowed the enterprises of Ewes to flourish and even gave the owners loans to improve on their enterprises. If an Akan occupied a very vital position, the PNDC quickly replaced him with an Ewe. If an Akan had huge amounts of money in the banks, the PNDC government seized it; and if an Akan had a very nice property like a house or car, the PNDC seized it. They just wanted to make EWES the LORDS of Ghana. That is the reason why, even as of now, most government institutions are managed by Ewes. But we are catching up, and will overtake them soon. Akans and Northerners are gradually displacing them in politics, jobs etc. Glory be to God.
