There is a lot of voter fury and resentment towards the current socioeconomic hardship in Ghana. There are a lot of independent voters out there who seriously analyse issues and will be appalled by the freeing of the Montie 3. I THINK JDM HAS SHOT HIMSELF IN HIS ELECTORAL FOOT.He should have shoved the 3 under the bus like Obama did to his pastor Jeremiah Wright when he made controversial comments.

(a) grant to a person convicted of an offence a pardon either free or subject to lawful conditions; or

(b) grant to a person a respite, either indefinite or for a specified
period, from the execution of punishment imposed on him for an
offence; or

(c) substitute a less severe form of punishment for a punishment
imposed on a person for an offence; or

(d) remit the whole or part of a punishment imposed on a person or
of a penalty or forfeiture otherwise due to Government on account
on any offence.

(2) Where a person is sentenced to death for an offence, a written report of the case from the trial judge or judges, together with such other information derived from the record of the case or elsewhere as may be necessary, shall be submitted to the President.

(3) For the avoidance of doubt, it is hereby declared that a reference in this article to a conviction or the imposition of a punishment, penalty, sentence or forfeiture includes a conviction or the imposition of a punishment, penalty, sentence or forfeiture by a court-martial or other military tribunal.

Many of our laws need reviews and updated to modern standards.
There's no fairness and balance in the judicial system these days.

The supreme Court had the powers to jail the Montie 3 even further than 4 months because the law on contempt is too old and needs a review.

It is our only bet to get reforms because human nature and the short term in office creates a seige mentality for every leader who takes up the Flagstaff house.
I believe Mahama must stay but the Parliament must be split among the parties, big and small.

I have had the opportunity of working with Dr. Gabass in Effia Nkwanta Hospital. He is no doubt a brilliant doctor who is highly competent, professional and hard working. I will be the first to accept that Dr. Gabass abominable act of canal knowledge with a minor of same sex is highly repugnant and condemnable. But we have to put this in perspective and admit society failed him. First and foremost, Dr. Gabass schooled and worked in the United States and probably learned the unacceptable act of homosexuality deemed normal in such alient cultures. Secondly Dr. Gabass was woefully failed by an ineffective, incompetent management headed by one Dr. Ntodi noted to be extremely tribalistic and highly partisan. Dr. Nodi's hatred for people of Northern heritage including our moslem brothers from other Sahel Region is legendary. The stark reality is that the management of Effia Nkwanta Hospital and the Regional Health Directorate vividly knew of Dr. Gabass problem but refused to offer assistance by way of psychotherapy and psychological counseling. Indeed Effia Nkwanta Hospital was a hospital with myriad of doctors suffering psychiatry and psychological problems. But selective justice ensured that doctors like Dr. Allotey Babington who suffered frank psychosis were given utmost attention and care probably because she was vulnerable and offered cheap sexual alternative for lustful bosses like Dr. Richard Anthony, a key management member and a right hand man of the medical superintendent, Dr. Ntodi. Astonishingly and quiet incredibly Dr. Ntodi decided to round up perceived enemies going about their normal duties to be paradoxically but falsely accused of psychiatry illness. These were doctors going about their normal duties callously but falsely dismissed by the Ghana Health Service on grounds of a frivolous accusation of mental illness. Truth said, Dr. Gabass have been a victim of the naked discrimination and selectivity of the GHS and its corrupt hierarchy who believe in cronyism, nepotism and dirty partisan politics. When the famous chief of Essikadu, Nana Nketia was strongly advocating for the dismissal of Dr. Gabass for allegedly sexually molesting minors in that area as the medical head of Essikadu hospital, the Regional Health Directorate under the corrupt Linda Vanotoo covered the case up, providing him with a false sense of security based on a loose Alliance for mutual benefits. Every discerning mind knew this act of opportunism and exploitation of Dr. Gabass under the pretext of protection was going to be short lived particularly regarding issues of impulse control disorder. Many level headed workers knew Dr. Gabass had serious psychosocial problems tentatively covered by a callous, greedy and self centered management merely interested in exploiting his talents as a naturally willing, hard working doctor to satisfy their vested parochial interest irrespective of the consequences to his person. This case need a serious probe by the National Security apparatus to establish the fact that Dr. Gabass was a default victim of the greedy mafia in that hospital with strong ties to the GHS and the MDC. One thing is clear and that is the readiness of the GHS and the MDC to speedily punish doctors usually victims of the brutality and tyranny of Dr. Ntodi. What the GHS and the MDC have never done is to investigate the myriad of reported corruption, illigalities and unethical happenings in that hospital widely known to the public though series of bad media coverage.

Obviously, there is no similarity between Dr Ali Gabaas' crime and that of the Montie 3. The Montie 3 only used their mouth to threaten the lives of their victims -at best an empty threat. No one has been visibly injured or harmed by their act. They were found guilty of contempt for which the greatest penalty ever handed someone guilty of it before the Montie 3's case was one month in jail. Interestingly, even with their pardon, they will have been in prison for one month and each of them and their employers have already paid various sums of money as fines.
In contrast, Dr Ali Gabaas was found guilty of a combination of sodomy and rape each of which carries long jail terms - he was jailed 25 years. Should be true that he infected his victim with HIV/AIDS then the gravity of his offence is even more. However, there is no crime that is too grievous to be beyond pardon particularly if the conditions are found right. There is therefore nothing abnormal about his prayer to the president for pardon.This petition will have to go through the mill for it to be assessed and if found deserving of pardon then why not?
