Every society has standards that are set to govern and regulate their society. In Africa, we discipline the youth in a way that would teach them a lesson. This also applies to Churches like the Pentecost church which goes as far as Suspending members and even Elders if your children go astray. (Punitive measures) ( I know a woman here in the UK whose daughters had babies out of wedlock and both parents were removed from their positions in church as the girls' actions were deemed ( "unchristian")

A Pastor lashes 2 young people - and mind you they are not just ordinary young folk, 16 and a 14 year old.

If it was in the West, the Boy would have been sent into Youth Custody straight from court,
then on his release, sign the Sex Offender's Register.

- As for the girl, at 14 years, she would have been taken into care.

We do not have these laws in Ghana so Obinim has my support, Just this time

We are being told bleat face illiterate Obinim is a peaceful man and therefore should not had been handcuffed.Baloney. This bleached face illiterate had used a crow bar before at a radio station to destroy equipment Worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, beaten panelist and he should have been put in leg irons too and chained to a pole.

Obinim was placed in custody where he was arrested before being transported to the police station or do you want to say that it is okay and not shameful for a criminal to be handcuffed! Ken you know the truth, don't shy away from it!

Even though I may agreed with you because of the gesture of protocol extended to Chiefs and Christian Leaders in our community, the police should have also respected the man of God and guarded him to the said case jurisdiction than putting him in handcuff. I don't think Obinim will run anyway because he had even reported himself, you are right but i also agreed with the transportating officers for following the use of handcuff if they feel it will be difficult for them to discharge their duty. So my learned Lawyer, please think about it and be neutral. Thank you.

I must however revise my notes since the types of this political fraternity tend to think alike.
The law must be applied discriminately to the poor and the rich. The have and the have nots.
When a poorman steals a got he must be hanged but a richman should be treated with kidgloves when he steals millions.
But to think of it, when the whole Donkorkrom burnt down a police station for the escape of people in custody, why will the police risk not handcupping Obinim. What if he turns into a snake and vanishes into thin air and his followers burn down the police headquarters.
Our so called human right lawyers must be human.
I did not hear from Atta Akyea and Attafuah when the Donkor krom policemen suffered the arson attack.
Lets be fair in our opinions and stop taking Ghanaians for granted.

I disagree with Attafua. The handcuff used by the police is not to fehumanise suspects. It is I material as to whether one reports himself to the police or not, when it becomes necessary to a suspect is to be conveyed from one end to the other, he can be handcuffed. The handcuff is not made for only suspected thieves and murderers as most people think and I believe that is Profs thinking too. It is only a working tool secure the safety of suspects to prevent escape, unnecessary interference with other things and to present self injury to the suspect.What is more shameful than what he was alledged to have done?
