Calling your opponent a dictator is not an insult and negative campaign is common in most societies. Moreover, that is a relative term and the opinion of the one using the term. It does not necessarily mean it is accurate. I wish president Mahama will campaign on issues but if he is sure that going negative is effective, then why not?

In the 2010 general election campaign in the UK, the then opposition leader, David Cameron tagged Gordon Brown, the incumbet prime minister as inflexible and intolerant and in 2015, he tagged Ed Miliband, the Labour leader as weak and on both ocassions it worked. Negative campaigning is very common and effective in the US.

This Amoabeng man does not know what he is talking about. Calling Nana Akufo-Addo a dictator is not an insult. Did he find it sickening when Nana Akufo-Addo called the late president, Prof Attah Mills as "Professor Do Little" or when he called Presient Mahama, incompetent? These are not insults but Akufo-Addo's opinions.

If negative campaigning is not effective in Ghana or could even backfire then that is a different matter but if it will achieve the desired ouctome, so be it. It's done in most democratic societies across the globe.

What you are noticing is just a manifestation of a problem ; the breakdown of our cultural and institutional values. The young just don't get up one day and start insulting adults like our chiefs, political leaders, church clergy and business leaders of our society? Reflect for a moment. As a son of Kuruantumi you might have experienced the Basel training you got at the Presbyterian schools and the reverence for our elders and the overlords of Akim towns and villages- Abusua payins' and chiefs? Other societies do not leave the development of good values for their young to chance. They have the Boys and Girl Scouts, Young Pioneers, The Youth league etc. Organizations' which instil strong values and leadership training in their youth.
In Ghana you will agree our chiefs, some Clergy, Politicians and institutional leaders have failed our youth. The youth have bad education and no jobs. What they see growing up are unfettered and conspicuous consumption of imported luxury and exhibition of false wealth through corruption and people getting away with stealing of the public treasury and fraudsters without legal sanction or social cost. And moral decadence is common place. So why are you surprised the 20 to 30 somethings get up to spew insults adults? How many adults or leaders in Ghana have stood for principle and have shown are willing to pay the altimeter price for it. We leave in a country of silence. Those with courage to raise alarms lare subtly silenced by the powerful and their agents. Chiefs will rather accept SVS rather than speak out against wrong.
Respect is earned not demanded. You are leader please start to do something about it. Complaining about a problem is just noise. With due respect. Thanks.

I cannot agree with Mr Amoabeng more. The leaders of our political parties have lost their way and cannot set any good examples. These young people get to our studios and spill out venom on the elderly in society. They will surely reap what they are sowing. When you sow love, you will reap love. When you sow disrespect you will reap disrespect. If you analyse things carefully,you will realise that most of these politicians would have amounted to nothing in society if it was not politics. They have not learnt the norms of life and use these young men and women for their own selfish ends. Most of these people have no standing in society when their parties loose power. When I look at some of these politicians, I realise that most of the wise in society have abrogated their role and the gap created has been filled by such nonentities. How can we have seasoned politicians to lead us when we as society vote on ethnic lines and not on policies, record and integrity. May the voices of Mr Amoabeng sound loud in Ghana to steer us on the path of real state building. Most of these politicians are state parasites. I am not painting all politicians with the same brush, however the attitude of most are disgusting with their sycophants spulling out vitriolic language on our airwaves. God save Ghana.
