You couldn't even express yourself very well. Besides, let me also let you know that when the home country or home state of an institution of higher learning refuses to give them accreditation, that institution is doomed forever. It suggests to academics that the institution isn't good enough to be accredited, and what such failed and inferior institutions do is to scout around for relatively cheaper accreditation boards with lower standards.

When UPSA wrote to find out about the SMC from the Swiss Embassy, they were diplomatically warned to be cautious with a private university. They were being cautious because they couldn't openly condemn the institution, but were generous enough to be careful with a private university, but the not so smart UPSA authorities accepted and ran with that letter as though it was affirmation of SMC. The fact that the SMC is even in the news about its credentials should be enough warning signs for serious institutions. Universities are supposed to be the pinnacle of institutions providing knowledge to its products, and under no circumstance should they succumb to an inferior source of knowledge.

In a nutshell, the faculty of UPSA are saying SMC is better than them, hence their ability to train their faculty and administrators. But why should anybody patronize such an institution with limited foresight and the inability to evaluate quality among institutions of higher learning? Just shaking my head.

As part of efforts to draw attention to some pertinent national issues, Mr. Prosper Yao Tsikata, a PhD student at Ohio University, who is addressing students and the general public in some selected universities across the country, will be embarking on a one-man march to present a petition to Ghana’s legislative assembly, Parliament, at the State House in Accra, in order to draw attention to such issues.

Mr. Tsikata is marching from the Kotoka International Airport to Ghana’s parliament. His route is from the Airport via the Lands Registry at Cantoments. He would continue from Danquah Circle through OSU Oxford Street to Parliament, where he presents a petition to the Speaker of the House with copies to the Majority and the Minority leaders for onward transmission to the House. The march commences takes place on March 21, 2012 at 2: P.M. at the Kotoka International Airport. The contents of the petition will be made public after they are delivered to the designated public office holders.

The general public and the media are cordially invited to witness this historic event. Mr. Tsikata will be available to grant interviews and field questions after presenting the petition.

UPSA phds, if indeed they have well trained doctors, could have provided the training they needed. They could have even registered them next door at UG or even UCC or Tech, since they are much much better than that fake institution SMC, but what am i talking about; they wanted a quick degree without doing the work.

I looked at the credentials of the newly appointed VC and couldn't believe what I saw? That guy won't even qualify for the position of an assistant professor, which is the entry level in most US institutions, much more to rise to become the VC. Oh Ghana, we aren't serious!

where i teach, we appoint vice chancellors or presidents after rigorous adherence to processes that start with the hiring consultants who will oversea the entire process, announcements of the vacancies nationwide, and allowing the consultants who are nationally acclaimed for hiring personnel for such big positions to determine who to employ. As a faculty, I may be invited to attend public meetings of interviews etc, and at times through my faculty senate, I may make an input regarding my expectations etc.

This petty stupidity of claims that critics are folks who wanted their allies to be hired as vice chancellors will never wash in a very serious university - it is stupidity, I can't say that enough, and embarrassing. I don't know and care less about your disgraced fake doctors at UPSA. I just feel sorry for you all because it is embarrassing to me as a ghanaian.

I just someone claiming those attacking smc and upsa wanted their friends to be the VC; are those friends better qualified? As I have said elsewhere, in more serious universities, such a person will not even qualify for an assistant professor position, which is the entry level applicants with ph.ds to four year universities.

unintelligent lecturers,unintelligent students,unintelligent management and what more unintelligent graduates.their certificate is worth less than toilet paper now after the smc stigma.hope lot of their students will start looking for university admission else where.Just feeling sorry for that school.

you see, unfortunately, the same students are the ones going about attacking us. why would i be jealous of someone who holds two fake degrees from a questionable institution when i am so confident with the only one i have? if you have been through the rigors of a phd training, you know one alone is enough for you, and you can't for any reason, torture yourself again given the difficulty. besides, those who have been through the rigorous training of phd wouldn't feel so insecure as needing a second doctorate to feel validated. this appointment even makes it worse because the guy couldn't even write an impressive marketable profile, and he claims to be a marketing expert...chai, ghana is in trouble!

Like you, I have nothing and know none of the people being embarrassed. I learnt everything here, but just got concerned because no serious university will encourage its faculty, those responsible for educating its students, to obtain terminal degrees from questionable sources.

Anyway, now that you mentioned it, it probably makes a lot of sense the authors wanted to stop the appointment of this guy as the VC, but isn't that a good cause? Why should those not qualified be promoted to such a big position in academics when the growth of our nation depends on the quality of its trainers?

Sounds like an adjunct if I were to evaluate him. not impressive at all. as a marketing and brands expert, he could do better than that. that goes to tell you the impact of poor education.

no, I don't need to read anything on different kinds of accreditation. the question is what the national accreditations board has indicated regarding smc. obviously, most of you don't understand the fact that persons occupying such high positions need to stay away from questionable institutions. such negative publications negate the very purpose for which they obtained the degrees, and no serious universities will hire faculty with such credentials. why would a serious university hire a phd who obtained the degree from an institution that has the potential of raising such bad publicity? that is what this conversation is all about. Anything from UCC, Tech, Legon, and UDS etc would have a heavier weight than those from such mushroom universities, no matter the number of institutions giving them accreditation.
