If they can't then they have to spend what they are given and cut their suit to match their cloth. you can't spend what you don't have. that's what the problem is. The GFA have for too long thought that footbaall is everything and they have a RIGHT to huge salaries, first class tickets, toneso of 'officials' and wasteful decision making. They can't continue. The minister is very brave in trying to bring things to order. There is a responsibility to ALL the sports and youth with the budget the Ministry has. not just football. Football is only of interest to male audiences, and only to football fans And it's not as if they've produced any substantial results. Qualifying is not the point. It's about winning titles too and they amount that is spent on football and the amount of money GFA takes is not proportionate to their performance or Mr Grant's delivery of perfomance.Each game costing $1m to Ghana! Get serious! And they still complain?! PFFFF

Bluntly put, FIFA regulations stipulate GFA has to run soccer in Ghana. That is why Nyantakyi feels he is like Mugabe. FIFA's monies go to GFA for the development of soccer in the country. GFA will not publish figures 'cos they know what they are doing. Gov't can come in to supplement and can ask GFA for any contributions made by the Government back. Have they been doing this, I don't think so. So when it comes to soccer, the Ministry becomes a toothless bulldog. Van-P is aware of this but is going about it the wrong way. You cant tell the Coach what to do, can't reduce players bonus. What you can do is refuse to pay air tickets (that is GFA's responsibility) and refuse to pay the players's bonus and let GFA be responsible for that also. What exactly is GFA paying for?
My honest opinion? Do we need soccer. If we don't play World Cup, are all Ghanaians going to die. Rather, soccer has become a way of an oligarchy spending FIFA's money and not accountable to the general public.
The GFA Chairman is running a football club. That is conflict of interest. Members of GFA are all affiliated with soccer teams in Ghana. How can they make independent decisions to improve the league. Referees accept bribes, some are beaten, fans invade pitches, players are completely underpaid, can't enforce their own regulations. Any body with 1000 cedis can set up a football team. So what the HELL is going on?

The problem appears that the players have realized as they toil others are 'milking' through coefficients and stuff like that. In such situations they demand their pound of the flesh. Fine but then if you want money from the national cofers you have to also work with the national ministery . That means present a programme, a plan and agree that and the budget in advance with the Ministry. The way the sports federations act is to keep adding their bill forever and ever andjust keep asking for more. The football federation is clearly under the microscope because they take most of the money and are the least accountable. There is a systemic problem with the federations all of them and they all need to be brought in line. They need to understand they can't just ask for money to take ill qualified people around the world, tons of 'officials; come back empty handed and then say they are NQAATIONAL teams and should be supported. They play sports like it's a child's game and it is not. Athletes invest their time, hopes, dreams, energy and money in their sport. the Federation presidents, run it like it's their private holiday or pension plan.
