There existed professional prophets in days of Jeroboam king of Israel , whose sole duty is to prophesise to the king for food and their living allowance.
There came Amos from nowhere near the prophet band after he has encounter God in the sycamore vine to warn the King not to take Israel to war.
Because these stomach prophets knew they will loose their wages, should they accept Amos’ prophesy, impressed upon the king to send Amos away to prophesise to his kinsmen for bread.
The king did not heed to Amos` advice and took Israel to war against its enemies…..HE WHO HAS EARS LET HIM HEAR!!!!

All those who are pushing him (Nana Addo) will do him a great harm and regret for the rest of their lives. He cannot do anything new than being a replica of Kuffour`s rule; in addition to an obvious arrogant perception everyone sees of him. His intentions are black n white (DIE HARD) Nana Van dam but still he will die because he pronounced dead for himself. I will imagine your disappointment if you die to see God as a person you really hate. How can you discriminate when you call yourself a follower of Christ? Your political stance has watered down the value of salt Christ imbibed in you.

In an election year, the statements attributed to the Prof are unsavoury but as he said, his conscience could not be bought. Although the allegations seems to be levelled at NDC it is best left at a point where his conscience will allow him. At this point, those who will believe and those who will not believe. As a Church man, he is not infallible yet he must be prepared to endure everything for his beliefs.

He certainly did not see anything wrong in mentioning the personality who urged him to move closer to the Chairmanship of the Peace Council because perhaps in his opinion there is nothing really very incriminating - just a friendly gesture even if misconstrued. I firmly support Prof Martey's position in rising above pettiness. He is an olderman who have developed values he believes in. A Pastor can use statements he has heard in confession in generalisation and it will not be in keeping with good Christian principle for him to yield to pressure to bring in names. If we believe him, we believe him if we do not believe him, it is our prerogative.

Men of God bind themselves with oaths and for this I respect Prof. Martey's position. However, in that the tone of his release seem to tarnish the image of the NDC, the statement was uncalled for because it narrows down as well as incriminates. In this direction, I am also of the same opinion as Mr Hayford. Why make this damaging claim against a party which in essence is like incriminating an individual but failing to provide proof. If NDC are happy not to press the issue because of the conscience of the Man of God, history will also bless them as a very tolerant Party, which I believe they are.

Prof Martey, we must accept has a duty to the public as a public figure. We were not long ago on war path with the jailing of the Montie Trio who had accepted they made a very careless statement but without clout to back it up. The Supreme Court assumed an absolute role which became very disturbing in a fledgling democracy like ours. I believe in the NDC, and I hope they too this time will rise above pettiness. I in the same vein will commend Prof Martey for making a statement which whichever part of the pendulum it belongs to on hindsight he has realised perhaps he should not have made it at all. Reading between the lines, he has always generalised in all his public statements but this time he moved just too close to the margin and most especially coming close in an election year, pressure could have mounted on him to break his own principle of not naming personalities. The comments must be taken as an ALLEGORY.

I trust the same section of the Community that petitioned against the jailing of the Montie Trio and much more will see with clarity the position of Prof Martey to proceed to a peaceful retirement whilst maintaining his love for Ghana and Ghana politics.

On another completely separate note, his statements has attracted a rather stronger case of established case of corruption against him as "in actual fact receiving bribe". This is outside the scope of this piece. We all know these stone throwings have serious repercussions. We all have to make sure of all our utterances because it is easy to destroy a good name which may never be repaired. If you insult Kwesi Pratt Jnr is he being insulted for his Socialist views? It is also arguably that no public personality will hope to have a quite life of sound endorsements from the start of the whistle. To this I believe they come very well prepared.

I have been listening to him on radio for about 20-years and he always bulley his other panel members. When he speaks, he thinks it is final and ought to be accepted by everyone. And if you disagree with him on a program, he sees you as his core enemy. Shamefully, he at times walks out of studio when things do not go his way. Christian Leaders are there to speak against the ills of society, especially , when the government of the day, is perpetuating injustice in the land. Who is there to speak for the poor of the land but a Man of God who is upright. And Prof Rev. Martey is upright. He refused to accept money, position and material wealth in order to shut him up. May all who have ganged up against this man including, Kwesi Pratt, be put to shame. Some supposed Men of God, in Ghana, have tended to look away when the government is not governing right. Some, do so because they are afraid of abuse and filty stories that will be told about them, by babies with sharp teeth. Others with filty minds as those in authority will collaborate with government, in other for the wrongs to be perpetuated in the society. They accept monies and government positions and material wealth from the looted government treasury. These shameless pastors, have suddenly found the magical effect in the word peace. They ceaselessly throw the word about and thereby, ask innocent congregations to pray for the thieving government. I will not and so must all who seek fairness and equity.
