The Office of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia wishes to notify the general public that the venue for Thursday’s Public Lecture has been moved from the Accra International Conference Centre as earlier advertised to the National Theatre, Accra.

An earlier publication had said the Public Lecture on the State of the Ghanaian Economy by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, renowned Economist and NPP Vice-Presidential candidate, was to be held tomorrow at 4pm at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The Lecture will see former President of the Republic, John Agyekum Kufuor, chairing the event which is expected to attract thousands of Ghanaians from various walks of life, the diplomatic mission and representatives of various local and international institutions.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has become famous for his lectures which in recent years have gained prominence for foretelling economic occurrences ahead of time and for its in-depth analysis and revelations of policies and economic indicators.

FULL STATEMENT BELOW:

The Office of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia wishes to notify the general public that the venue for Thursday’s Public Lecture has been moved from the Accra International Conference Centre as earlier advertised to the National Theatre, Accra.

The change in venue follows a decision by the managers of the Conference Centre (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to deny organizers of the programme the use of the facility - 24 hours to the Public Lecture, despite earlier assurances and two days (last week Wednesday and this Monday 5th September) of technical meetings and arrangements between the organizers and technical men at the Centre, which concluded on among others, the Technical set-up for the event.

Despite the setback, we will like to assure the general public that everything is set for the Lecture at the National Theatre tomorrow on the theme: “The State of the Ghanaian Economy – A Foundation of Concrete or Straw”.

The Lecture will be delivered by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and chaired by former President H.E. John Agyekum Kufuor.

The denial of access and the rescinding of the decision to deny access is basically to achieve one purpose and one purpose only. To confuse the teaming mass of Ghanaians eager to listen to economic brilliance from Alhaji Bawumia.

I am not surprised that Bawumia is desperate to use the conference centre to air the NPP lies and election promises. If it is true that Kufuor is going to chair the conference, then it will wise for him to ask his chairman to explain to the nation why during NPP time of governance Kufuor and the NPP government including Nana Addo and Bawumia left the country's roads, streets and fly-overs dusty and uncompleted for more than four years despite the Chines and other nations' loans for the project. Above all, Kufuor and the NPP government including Nana Addo sold our national assets namely Ghana Airways airline and the Ghana telecommunications co-operations and distributed the money among themselves before living office. These co-operations which were operated and manned by Ghanaian trained engineers, pilots, stewards, air-hostesses were the scientific base for our emancipation in the future scientific research, training, economy and advancement. Within four years of President Mahamah and the NDC ruling, all the roads, streets and fly-overs in the country have been completed and many other infra-structures completed. Even though the we borrowed the money the projects have completed.
