IMANI did nothing wrong in their analysis. Most of the issues they had were minor differences in how the calculations made by Bawumia. The central thrust of the IMANI critique was that in most cases Bawumia was using nominal figures. They would have preferred use of "indexed" figures that took into account inflationary depreciation that affects the purchasing power or value of money in one period from another period.

IMANI conceded that in some of what they were asking the methodology they would have liked to use was complicated and not easy to simplify. However essentially they concede that Bawumia's analysis was truthful and fact based - Taken from Seth Terkper and Kwame Duffuor Budgets, World Bank Reports and Ghana Statistically Services data. These are all reports generated by the governments of the day.

Bawumia, therefore has reported the facts, now it is for his detractors to refute those facts. IMANI has no way refuted the stated facts. Please read their analysis of the Bawumia presentation carefully be you comment. IMANI's analysis is neither anti-Bawumia or anti-NDC. It is a good and honest analysis.

Bawumia's report is however damning of the NDC government of the last 8 years especially the 4.5 years under Mahama.

1. Inflation does not affect foreign currency. Example: $100.00 (hundred dollars) now is the same as hundred dollars then when it comes to using the money in Ghana. This is because when exchange rate was $1.00 = ¢2.80 things or items were being sold at a rate relate to the foreign rate. I hope “IMAN” is solely comparing loans borrowed by “NPP” and “NDC”, is been done in dollars wise.
2. Where I would like “IMAN” to look into how “NPP” served Ghanaians as compare to how “NDC” is serving Ghanaians. Example: During ex-president Kufor regime (NPP) and current:
(a) We were throwing garbage away free of charge. – That is money ex-president Kufor gave away in terms of revenue.
(b) Every Ghanaian will tell you he use to pay far less in supplement of health insurance to doctors when taken care. That is money Kufor gave away in terms of revenue.
(c) Teachers training allowance given to student were far more under “NPP” time as compare with “NDC” if any. That is money ex-president Kufor gave away in terms of revenue.
(d) Doctors were basically leaving in their bungalows free together with reasonable allowances under “NPP” as compare to “NDC”. That is money ex-president Kufor gave away in terms of revenue.
(e) Crude oil was being sold at about $145.00 per barrel while prices at the pump was three to four (3 – 4) times cheaper at the pump as compare to “NDC” regime is selling at the pump. That is money ex-president Kufor gave away in terms of revenue.
(f) Look at electrical bills while crude Oil is about 200% cheaper as compare to ex-president Kufor regime (NPP). That is money ex-president Kufor gave away in terms of revenue.
(g) Look at water bills about 100% higher compare to ex-president Kufor regime (NPP). That is money ex-president Kufor gave away in terms of revenue.
(h) Look at School feeding. It was efficient and paid for without problems under ex-president Kufor. That is money ex-president Kufor gave away in terms of revenue.
(i) Have you, “IMAN” cleared things from the Harbour under this regime? Cost of clearance has gone up so much that is even ridiculous. That is money ex-president Kufor gave away in terms of revenue.
(j) Etc, etc …………
Now, I would like the “IMAN” to compound the amount that President Mahama has gained from over taxing as well as withdrawal of services to the public. With all the Oil revenues, and loans that the current government has obtained, there should be no excuse for any passionable person to try and defend the present government. The bottom line is that: “THE COUNTRY, GHANA IS NOT DOING WELL SO AS THE CITIZENS OF GHANA. THERE ARE A FEW INDIVIDUALS WHO HAS AMASSED WEALTH. THE MAIN DIFFERENCE BETWEEN “NPP” AND “NDC” IS THAT “NPP” TRY TO DISTRIBUTE WEALTH TO GHANAIANS IN DIFFERENT WAYS OR FORMS WHILE “NDC” DISTRIBUTE WEALTH AMONG ONLY THE “TOP” “NDC” PARTY MEMBERS. “IMAN”, “GHANA IS HARD OOOOOOOOO!” All the data in the world would not mean anything to Ghanaians if they are suffering.
