I thought Nduom was smarter than that. I had always suspected he has an irrepressible ego, which might have led him to leave the CPP to form his own Party so as to crown himself ( more or less) the Flagbearer. But hardly did I believe he could stoop so low as to dig into the grave of the late President to grab some votes.

If he does not know, Nduom, himself, is capitalizing on the death of the late President Mills for votes, just as he accuses the NDC for being happy for his death because it would enhance their chances for more votes.

A much deeper consideration of the two scenarios even portrays Nduom's tactics as a worse form of soliciting for votes with Mill's death. And the following is why I say so:

While the NDC probably got some sympathy votes, those votes were not planned for in any known plot by the NDC to kill Mills to engender the votes. On the other hand, Nduom calculatedly is appealing to folks to defect from the NDC to vote for him, based on the unsubstantiated, illogical accusation he levels at the NDC.

If the NDC enjoyed any voting advantage from Mills' death, they did not deliberately set in motion any activities that would kill him and specifically, or even remotely, guarantee them those votes. The tragedy just naturally happened to win them sympathy votes.

In the case of Nduom's appeal, he is directly and unashamedly using Mills' death to court votes that might fulfill the former's political ambition, fantasy, if you will, winning him the Presidency. That makes Nduom's plea a more sinister capitalization on the tragic but natural death of Mills.

Without going far back into History, the case of the late VP Aliu Mahama still rings in people's mind. And many have warned that Bawumia would be subjected to the same fate, so long as he shares the bed with the Akyem Mafia.

Believers of that notion often cite the fact that NPP has never chosen a Northerner for its Flagbearer as a concrete evidence of it. Do you have a better alternative explanation for that?

But even so, such is only subjective, and the events you mention are not conclusively and provably causative of their perceived escalated consequences.

Bear in mind that others might jump on that train of thought to show how the NPP's antecedents, that included some of its current leaders, also did exactly what you accuse the NDC of for similar political gains.

P/NDC deposed Liman. So, did the NLC depose Nkrumah. The AFRC deposed Acheampong cum Akuffo. As to the death of Arkaah and Mills, their deaths have not been proven even remotely that they were the result of anyone's malicious intent. If you have the facts to submit as evidence, lay them up. Otherwise, you are only making wild, hateful accusations for political expediency.

If we were to accept your premise and its likely reverberations, folks would also find justification to blame the death of Nkrumah on the NPP.

I think it serves the Nation and her Citizens best to focus on the known merits of the candidates and their visions or indications of what they intend doing to move the Nation forward. Any reference to an old worrisome incident involving any candidate that might render him or her hazardous to our Nation's future must be grounded in verifiable facts.

NDC rejoiced over Mills death in a situation one can best describe as a 'Bitter -Sweet' event The reason being that, Mills was terminally ill, and could not have mounted a vigorous campaign. Yet he had won the Primaries and was compelled to carry his deteriorating health notwithstanding. Therefore his passing was some welcome news to the party even though it was shocking. What about the NPP? They made the matter of Mills health an issue for then upcoming elections. No day passed without them asking about the ability of Mills to continue in office as if they held the keys to his days left on earth. Unfortunately for them , Prof Mills had chosen a man after his heart with whom he was well pleased, to succeed him. What begun as a happy moment for NPP ended sadly for them, their wishes were dashed, JDM in a swift move like a hurricane had swept them off their feet, and they have never recovered. The bitter lesson had been learnt to never wish death to your opponent. You may never reap the rewards.

He was driven by that trait to leave the CPP, and form his own Party, when he sensed that someone else was going to be chosen for the flagbearer, and became disillusioned.

If it was just for the general faults in the CPP that Nduom detested, hoping to join a more decent Party, he would have not coerced his new Party, the PPP, to accept him as its Flagbearer. He formed the PPP so that he could be the Party's Flagbearer.

It seems Nduom and Akufo-Addo share that trait of not accepting any other candidate over themselves easily. They both would apply ruthless tactics to achieve their political ambition.

The logic that the NDC was happy for the death of President Mills because they recognize it would provided the Party additional advantage in sympathy votes is idiotic, misleading and treacherous. I am not a NDC member but I find such misuse of the death of Mills most appalling.

To be honest, if the NDC did not kill Mills, no one in their right mind should claim that the Party benefiting from sympathy votes emanating from his death indicates its members were happy the President died. The NPP was long sounding off the poor health of Mills long before he died. And yet, some of the Akyem Mafia faction of the Party has never stopped insinuating that the late President was healthy but murdered by some within the NDC that stood to gain most out of his death.

Now, Nduom has exposed himself as harboring similar thoughts by his statement in the above article. That is a shame. While Nduom's departs a bit from the charge that some Akufo-Addo minions have been leveling against Mahama regarding the death of Mills, what Nduom said adorns that idiotic, insidious accusation.

If that is the kind of thinking Nduom is pursuing our Presidency with, then he does not qualify for the Post, either. He seems to be bringing his 'dog-eat-dog' Business strategy into our Politics. And that is a huge mistake that would turn away many from him. His wide, umbrella incrimination of all NDC members in their perceived joy for the death of Mills, does not even spare Mills' closest pals and surrogates in NDC, like the Ahwois. So, wouldn't the general membership of the NDC be angry at Nduom and deny him any opportunity of their defection to join his PPP? A lousy calculation, Nduom! He has shot yourself in the foot.

Central Region and the Fantis have heavily preferred the NDC to Nduom's PPP. And this statement of his on Mills' death could be seen more as an insult to them than an eye-opening realization that would drive them over to his side.

It is amazing how our pool of Presidential candidates seem to be mirroring those of the USA. The only difference between the two Nations' groups of Presidential candidates being the absence of a female candidate in Ghana's.

We have a bigot, "Yen Akanfo de..'all-die-be-die'" fascist, a pseudo-Socialist, and a Laissez-faire Business Magnate, all in the mix. We even started our own intrusion into the Candidates' Health status long before the USA began hers into the health status of Hillary and Trump.

Well, I wish our folks would live up to the challenge to sift well through the garbage to emerge with a fitting, capable President.

3. rigging of elections through the stealing of the national purse to buy the vote by corrupting all manner of institutions from the election management body through to the judiciary and the conscience of the electorate through the reckless and crass sharing of goodies.
This has become the modus operandi of the NDC party and Mahama and so it is not surprising as recent as last week, the NDC party and Mahama were praying and hoping against hope, Mahama's nemesis at the polls this December, Nana Akufo Addo is afflicted with all manner of ailments so he passes on, after other attempts have failed as all others will fail.
In this election however, the unfathomable desperation of Mahama has created the situation where the "killing aspect of their power approach" has expanded to include members of the Judiciary and the Supreme Court Justices after Ghanaians resolved to ensure election management bodies will live strictly according to their mandate to ensure credible elections in Ghana, and again, resolving to chop the goodies heartily and boot Mahama out heavily.
The palace coup type of approach was on display when the Veep President who the NDC regards as a weak member of their team, was nearly sent off at Nsakyire junction.
So Ghanaians have seen the full unfurling of the NDC and Mahama's only way to the Presidency in this elections and clearly, it is not working and thus, the desperation.
The late Atta Mills May His Soul rest in peace suffered one of the approaches of the NDC and John Mahama
specifically number 2 and this is what it seems P.K is alluding to.

Ex-President J.J. Rawlings was on record stating that the death of Prof. Attah Mills saved the NDC. There is an age old axiom in The United Kingdom: “The King is Dead – Long Live The King”. This simply denotes that with the passing of One King, another King is installed. No single nation can continue mourning its King forever when there is a new King in the Palace. In the same statement attributed to ex-President J.J. Rawlings in his popular “this John and that John” coinage, he was attacking both His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and the late Prof. John Attah Mills.

Whilst the majority of NDC active supporters believe and trust their President, ex-President J.J. Rawlings was not so enthusiastic. Should his position be interpreted as a general Party position? The NDC as a Party, I believe is bigger than ex-President J.J Rawlings and so it will not be fair to attribute what he said to their NDC hierarchy in an electioneering year.

Dr Bawumiah has clearly endorsed the achievements of Prof. Atta Mills and naturally Ghanaians are equally observant people. It will be a shame for any Party to attach individuals to a Party structure - a party which functions on social democratic principles irrespective of the leader.

In my opinion, the selection of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama as flagbearer following the death of the President strengthened the credentials of the NDC as a Party for the people and by the people. His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, although younger and vibrant has not been tested as the late Professor at the time of his demise. At the NDC primaries, it was the Professor against Nana Konadu and he won a resounding victory.

Even if one will accept health as a factor that members of the opposition will be using that against a Party, that would not have been a new thing. The same was in 2008 but Ghanaians voted for the late Professor and the party stood by the late Professor.

Death is inevitable and it is most sad for a statement to come from a Statesman as to people jubilating over the death of another. Husbands die, wives die but the surviving spouses and their children live on. They must live on with the memory of the dear departed in the background – not at the center stage of their lives. His Excellency John Dramani Mahama did the Fante people proud by selecting a Fante man though an experienced Banker as his running mate. How could the party and its leaders as a whole be chastised? There have been few recorded deaths in NPP of top members – can the party not move forward?

Every leader comes with his trusted allies and so some will lose out when their godfathers are no longer there. It is normal experience in life.

The NDC did not abandon projects started by the late Prof. Attah Mills. In war, Government must continue and in death, Government must continue. It is not very savoury for such inference to be made of secret joys in the death of a leader, even if some will be secretly glad not all will. The late Professor was selected unanimously by his Party in 2008 to represent them in the election. His health notwithstanding, he was again unanimously selected to represent the Party in 2012.

In my opinion the statement is indeed loose talk and should not have been made with hindsight.

Paa Kwesi Ndoum is a Social Democrat and he must campaign on policy issues. He was on record castigating both His Excellency and Dr Nana Akuffo Addo as resorting to childish drama. Into what category does this statement fit? What will he do for Ghana when elected as President? That is the question.

I heard Osla Owusu on several occasions swearing that if Atta Mills is able to campaign for 2012 then she will change her name. The day Mills died , the whole of Kumasi in fact ashanti region was like the first day Kuffour was declared winner in 2000 elections. My question is that between npp and ndc, who killed Atta Mills ? All the market women and men hired speakers and systems and were dancing all over Kejetia and central market. When I got there in the evening from my work place, I was completely shocked by what they were doing saying. Paa Kwesi Nduom should be very careful about his political career and also speak the truth if that is what he knows. Telling great lies of such nature just to make sure that he confuses the central region to vote for the npp which he 99% belongs. My last words are that if it is really true that ndc leaders are responsible then God in His mighty should name them one after the other and punish them for ghanians and the whole world to see but if they are also innocent of all these accusations, then God should also punish every tongue that tells lies about this death just for political favour.

On Thursday July 15th, "The flagbearer of the Progressive People's Party (PPP) Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom accused members of the ruling NDC of rejoicing at the demise of the late President John Mills.According to him, although some NDC members pretend to be hurt by his death, many of their leaders believed that his death paved way for them to retain the presidency in the 2012 elections."

In a sharp rebuttal, two Ndc officials, Kofi Adams,
National Organizer of National Democratic Congress (NDC)and Mr Bernard Allotey Jacobs, the Central regional chairman of the NDC, has dared the three-time flag bearer to 'man up' and name any Ndc Official he claimed rejoiced about President Mills death.

I don't know whether Kofi Adams and Allotey Jacobs are playing dumb or senility are setting in because it is not even in doubt amongst their colleagues that they rejoiced about President Mills death especially President Mahama who benefitted the most from President Mills demise. I will just quote three Ndc prominent people who could not even hide their glee about President Mills death and said so in plain English language.
