Leaving the social media this open freedom is akin to giving a sharp kitchen knife to a toddler to play with. Our democracy is too young and ought to be policed and monitored with care. The democracy in the West went through several centuries of refining to arrive at what we have there now. Even then the authorities have put in place several regulatory mechanisms to check the abuse of the media in general with very punitive measures. We can not afford to sit idle and let a few social miscreants to throw our peace to the wind especially in a volatile election year. A stitch on time saves nine so says the old adage.

Listening to his irresponsible and immature pronouncements should have warned the media off his trail, but this does not seem to be the case. So something must be done about it sooner rather than later. Such people only muddle the waters in areas where they have no locus, and once sections of the community get caught up in the mess they create, a real problem looms for the country. He must be stopped if he cannot stop himself from trespassing where he must not.

note of caution. Elsewhere, all the police need to do is to implement the measures including shutting down social media, damn the consequences when such measures are to maintain the social order, keep the country secure and safe and above all prevent the outbreak of chaos leading to war.
