Like virtually everyone on the national payroll, the Standards Authority personnel can be and are bought for a pittance. Hundreds of dangerously substandard products, from fuel to pharmaceuticals, from food items to electrical goods, are routinely imported without even the most cursory inspection by the public servants whose salaries are paid by the taxpayer. Never mind that these products kill people. This is the reality in Ghana, and the culprits are untouchable.

Anytime that I go to Ghana and when buying fuel at the Gas stations I warn the fuel attendants to quit such a job because they will eventually die from inhaling those chemical fumes from the pump since the quality of fuel in Ghana is substandard and contain toxic chemicals that are cancer causing. Now there we go with these NDC officials claiming that we cannot afford a quality fuel and therefore we should keep quiet and die. What a travesty

To GSA, importation of toxic fuel which has the potential of causing even death is ok as long as their salary is paid. They have toyed with and continue to toy with our lives as long as they import these fuels into Ghana.

If they are confronted with this dilemma of either importing toxic fuels which are cheaper or non-toxic ones which are more expensive, they should have informed us Ghanaians about it to enable us decide after being educated on the pros/cons of it.

Is it possible that these toxic fuels could be the cause of deaths in young people these days?

I think serious investigations should be made to ascertain whether the National Petroleum Authority is really protecting the interest of Ghanaians
