Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea says the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has fallen on its own dagger after the arrest of a lady in London for drug trafficking.

Nayeli Ametefeh was arrested at the Heathrow Airport in London for allegedly carrying 12.5 kilogrammes of cocaine.

The 35-year-old lady who travelled with an Australian passport is also said to be having a diplomatic Ghanaian passport.

Based on this backdrop, many including members of the NPP has linked the suspect to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) - a position government has vehemently denied.

Deputy Communications Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, condemned such act in no uncertain terms.

He indicated that those who planned to link the busted woman to the NDC are “hopelessly incompetent”.

On the contrary, Nana Akomea on the same programme maintained that it is the law of Karma which is catching up with the NDC.

For a party which hitherto branded the NPP a narcotic party, he believes the ruling party is being paid back in their own coin.

The NPP man recalled how the NDC and its rented press while in opposition inundated the erstwhile Kufuor administration with criticism and name calling for not doing enough to fight the canker.

He could not fathom why government which claimed to have instituted measures to make Ghana a no go area for drug trafficking could not arrest the lady.

Nana Akomea said the NPP feels vindicated for the false allegation which after six years in power, not even a fly in the NPP has been convicted for drug related offenses.

“NDC must remember that when you throw a ball to the wall; it bounces back to you”.

What is the evidence that the NPP government got money from cocaine trade? Several people have been arrested under the NDC administration in connection with cocaine. As high as the drug business was reported to have been in Ghana, it never replaced the daily economic activities that we were engaged in, and most people had nothing to do with it. Besides, there is no proof of any of that money being reinvested in our Economic system to generate any significant returns to boost the Economy.

So, what heck was the Minister talking about? I think when he made that comment, he just felt that it was an opportunity to insult the NPP with the tag of being associated with the drug trade.

But records show that the NDC also has its ample share of drug kinpins. Does that mean that Mahama's Regime has only been perching on drug money for sheer survival?

We all know the massive leakages in our financial pot via SADA, SUBA, Woyomegate, STX, etc. that have occurred on Mahama's watch. Wouldn't that be enough reason to boot the NDC out?

The fact that the NDC Administration has not been able to successfully prosecute any of the culprits in the massive Corruption incidents among its officials to retrieve all the looted money is adequate reason for its exit.

Allowing the culprits to keep the money and walk free can only amount to cronyism and collaborative graft.

It is indeed very true that not only cocaine but laundered money flowed waa waa during the kuffuor administration n that was more so the reason why those monies were laid into the economy through the banking sector n lead to mass arrangement of employee n personal loans facilities around 2007 -2008..and a lot of the newly established n foreign banks were to perpetuate the crime n so came under scrutiny n were warned by the international body agst laundering of criminal n drug money. and this largely the reason cost of lending was quite low then..bcos we were there som...in those period of direct sales days in barclays etc

I hear you attended KNUST and youbwould have written and presented a dissertation to acquire a degree.This presupposes that you would know the relevance of data referencing and analysis. I collected data from the World Bank country office in Ghana covering Jan2008_Dec2010 to write a Masters thesis in Finance.THE economic performance data for that is exactly what Fifi Kwetey is talking about.Why do you attack his personality instead of dealing with the figures.I believe you were in Ghana the early part of 2009 when the world bank issued a statement the Ghsnas economy was in a crisis due to self inflicted macro economic instability resulting from excessive fiscal slippages in 2008 and previous years and called on the incoming gov,t to sign on with the IMF immediately to deal with the difficulties.
