  Dr. Abbey has come out with a clear diagnosis and a credible prescription for the economy: fiscal discipline (as in "austerity") cannot lead to economic growth. What the economy really needs is to pursue policies that lead to major job creation, leading to real increase in income. Stimulus based on comprehensive study of current state of economy and gap between it (state) and desired level, in addition to examination of future-relevant skills and training to ensure their acquisition by job-seekers is the first step. Next, government must implement stimulus package (determined from previous step) and involve private sector participation to the optimal maximum.

  Dr Mark Assibey-Yeboah,our economy is still growing under the IMF programme.
  
  It is no use running down our economy - you have a stake and an interest in it - you would do well to be more positive.
