NPP is not short on ideas stolen from developed industrialized nations like the USA but making promises and going through with the promises are two different things. Ghana has schools and we have had then for as long as I can remember with labs ill-equipped to boil water. Those who will buy anything thrown at them by the NPP, I'm sure will jump for joy at this phoney NPP promise. Reality check is that because of the prohibitive cost most schools in the USA do not have STEM and of school districts that do have STEM it is not every school that has STEM curriculum. For example a school district of 15 different elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 1 special education school and 2 high schools they have only 1 STEM school. Yet every student, all 16,000 of the students,in the school district have been issued brand new laptop (from IPad at the elementary schools to chrome books at the middle schools to Dell or HP notebooks at the high schools)
Let us not sit in Ghana and fall for all the bull crap that the NPP and NDC offer each election cycle but have not been able to provide over the 50+years of post 1966 promises. Is our existing elementary schools not good enough to have windows, doors and air conditioning? Are our secondary or senior high schools not good enough to have well equipped science labs? I challenge Dr Bawumia to use his phoney statistical analysis to tell all of Ghana how many mathematics teachers graduate from our universities in a year and how many in science education? It's simple, we cannot have STEM at every school, village, town, and metro areas in Ghana until you have qualified teahers. And I will make a bet with everyone who thinks this NPP delusion is the greatest invention since slice bread that there is no amount of loans the NPP can collect that will be enough to fulfill their promise. How much is the NPP willing to pay as base pay for these STEM teachers? What will be the incentive for qualified teachers to take jobs in rural areas?

Let us judge politicians and political parties on their record since 1966 not select a period of convenience to make fools out an entire nation of voters. Those in the Diaspora who keep throwing out ideas for the NPP and NDC are just as idiotic, classroom educated but ignorant as all others in Ghana because they continue to stay away from Ghana but love to see Ghana governments spend money buying inflated priced items from them even as the people living in Ghana suffer from mismanagement, bribery and corruption.

You used to make a lot of sense so I'm hesitant to come down hard on you. Suffice it to say that Mahama's homegrown policy was no more homegrown than the Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers. NPP's experience implementing the latter led them to take the decision not to take any standby facility from the IMF. Yet no sooner had they come to office than the Mills-led NDC snuff out this hard-won policy space by going for a 3-year IMF financing arrangement.

Then comes Mahama after 2012. When the excesses of his 6-month acting presidency dawn on us, he first denied we're in a crisis, then admitted we're but we weren't going to the IMF as claimed by Bawumia. Purely for propaganda purposes, the Mahama-led administration called a national forum to come out with "a homegrown" solution. It turns out it was a complete waste of national resources. First, participants started complaining that agreements reached (the Senchi Consensus) were not being implemented. Second, the government eventually went back to the IMF for a bailout. Although it claimed this merely to give credibility to the homegrown policy, in substance the agreement signed with the IMF reflects the latter's policy preferences, which is why the President is flip-flopping on some of the policy measures, including withdrawing allowances for nurses and teachers and then promising to reinstate them ahead of elections!

A well packaged Samsung or Lebanese, Nigerian or other nationals or company cellphones support office would send out adverts like this caption, and young people would rush in applications in millions. But some, in fact many in that group have the capacity to learn and set up a similar outlet, making multiples of that same amount they expect to be paid! Why?

1. There, the company would give him an identity tag for his role that may not be tagged "phone repairer". So he feels 'cool' working there even for 50k.
2. He conditions his expectations to a guaranteed price tag at the end of the month.
3. I don't just know ...really

Before entering politics all Mahama could achieve professionally was as a grants officer at the Japanese embassy.
