Running short of money and major donors closing their checkbooks spells disaster for any political campaign in today's times; even volunteers to a campaign have to be fed, watered and transported at times and all of that costs money. So unless you know something i dont know about the NPP, which you may, i say focus on how you are are going to work with the NDC government for the next 4 years. Don't let your hope of what you wish to be cloud your judgement on reality. Think clearly and act responsibly.

Inasmuch as the public does not necessarily need to know everything about its political leaders, it has the right to know about their health situations. If Nana is sick as alleged by AfricaWatch, the public has the right to know. After all, we are talking about a guy who could potentially be our President in a few short weeks. Therefore, if he is seriously sick, the sickness should not be shredded in secrecy. What happened to transparency and accountability, which are some of the cardinal precepts of democracy? Ghanaians have seen before their very eyes the picture being portrayed by Nana and his people. Remember former President Mills' ill health that was persistently denied until his supposedly sudden death? Yet he supported the raising of the rate of this same tax as one of the first items voted into law when his party came to power. Surely this is not the profile of a man with the people's interest at heart nor can he be considered a patriot. Even though the ancient Greeks admired old age, they were at the same time scared of it. If indeed, Nana's present health is not favourable for him to occupy the highest office of the land, he must hand over his gloves to save himself from mockery by his political opponents. We,ve had the John Atta Mills experience and do not want a repetition of such a calamitous situation in ghana any more. I love Nana the same way I love other leaders of our country both past and present because they are all ghanaians whose hard work led them to the top and deserved to be respected. Sometimes, we do joke in our comments but the reality on the ground is as important as life itself. I personally want Nana himself to come out with the truth or if possible give us a nationwide address of his present health to clear the air before it becomes apparent that the information contained in African Watch's dossier is right. That is rather going to be embarassing to him and his political party. Meanwhile, we as his fellow country men and women need to pray for him to live to accomplish his mission if he is the chosen one to lead ghana in the upcoming election. If he is not able to make it to the top, we shall still continue to pray for him and his entire family to live longer. The price of peace is cheaper than the price of war.

Didn't the NPP worry about the Health of the late President, Atta Mills, in 2008, leading up to the Elections?

Maybe, if we had paid the due attention and put the worry in a better frame and context, the Nation would have been spared a great deal of emotional burden and continuity problems after his demise.

I remember reading how some comment by former President Kufuor about the Health of Mills shortly before the Elections in 2008 drew many criticisms from various quarters that the former had launched a low blow below the belt.

Many other NPP Officials often referred to Mills in more demeaning terms for his poor health. But all that aside, the truth could not be suppressed and the inevitable emerged shortly after Mills' rise to the Presidential seat.

So, why are many NPP folks mad about any revelation on the Health of Akufo-Addo, now? What is good for the goose is also good for the gander.

We did not hear Akufo-Addo or his close Aides vigorously deny his sneaky trips to UK for Medical treatment as AfricaWatch revealed. So, why are the 'farther-located' followers of the NPP Flagbearer's all in arms about the revelation? Don't they want Ghanaians to learn the truth about Akufo-Addo's Health?

We must not belittle concerns about the man's Health. Even though we should all empathize with, and pray for him to recover, we must not be irritated by any sharing of knowledge on his state of Health.

In fact, I find it most insincere for anyone, including the late Mills and Akufo-Addo and Mahama to hide their true state of Health from the Electorate. The more I think Akufo-Addo has made it his lifetime goal to become Ghana's President before he dies, the more I believe he would lie with a bold face about his Health. All the man seems to care is to prove his late Father wrong, for what many say was the father's doubtful expectation that the son would become successful in the future because of Junior's unwholesome behavior. So, Akufo-Addo may just be satiated with even a day on the Presidential seat before his end comes.

That may sound too selfish of him to many. And if it happens that he is really lying about his poor health, and he dies soon after winning the Elections, (assuming he wins), his enemies would not even spare his lifeless corpse. They may wanna flog it!! (Beating a dead person, huh?) Just a joke!!

Nevertheless, I think it behooves Nana to come clean on his state of Health. Ghanaians may still have pity on him to give him some sympathy votes to boost his chances of winning and hurl him over the crest.

I wouldn't mind much if he eases into the Spirit World with that little Presidential glory. Even as much as I have always preferred another candidate to him, if his end is truly near, we may as well be a little kinder to him to give him his dream before passing. All he has to do is humbly plead..just like Oliver Twist.."Can I, please, have some more"?

On a more serious note, humility and honesty are most essential in fielding our Presidential spot. Anyone who demonstrates those traits easily disarms me for my vote. If our worst fears about Nana materialize while on the Presidential seat, we could have some solace in the person of Dr. Bawumia.

Dr. Bawumia would be ready as a fitting substitute to lead us on for the rest of the term, I believe.
