on a person for an offence; or

(d) remit the whole or part of a punishment imposed on a person or of a
penalty or forfeiture otherwise due to Government on account on any
offence.

(2) Where a person is sentenced to death for an offence, a written report of the case from the trial judge or judges, together with such other information derived from the record of the case or elsewhere as may be necessary, shall be submitted

What's the end results when you imprison people and the president goes ahead to release them and say it was hash?,if it has any implications that's what Atuguba must discuss and not the powers they ve to sight people for contempt.All lawyers from all sides of the political divide that the courts indeed ve that powers,so Atuguba should address why most of the time officers of the courts in good standing often attacking the courts after the lose case they couldn't argue well and lost?one such persons is Nana Ato Dazie the lead lawyer of the montie case,he instigated the party to put pressure on the president to release this convicts,he actually said it was the only for the convicts to regain their freedom with recourse to appeal or review window available to him.So the courts or the judicial council must discuss this topic now that no one is in the hook rather than wait for someone to fall into the trap before they come out issueing statements.Atuguba must do well to tell Ghanaians what the real meaning of the word SHALL is when the failed to apply the word in its right sense during the election petition,in any contex in law where the word SHALL is used its so mandatory that it can not be substituted for any reasons,example the constitution says they SHALL be a council of state,has any constitutionally elected president violated this mandatory law before? Or can the president refuse to operate without a council of state?if he did has he violated any law?.So Atuguba should address his mind to some of this things and stop lobbying to become the CJ of this country.
