When as AG, the NPP under Kuffour turned the justice system upside down just to jail NDC members just to confirm what JH Mensah had promised they would do. Yes the succeeded in that regard resulting in the death of Victor Selormey. Only when they lost the 2008 elections did Kuffour make a face saving move to pardon the rest. In contrast, Prof Mills refused to pay back and allowed the courts a free hand which led to the acquittal of NPP people like Wreko Brobbey and others. There is a difference between vindictiveness and compassion. Threatening to jail your political opponents as a strategy is akin to some Eastern European and Arab dictators, and off late the favorite refrain of Donald Trump. That is why Americans are distancing themselves from Donald Trump just as Ghanaians are doing to Nana Addo. Saying you would jail someone is different from saying you would prosecute the person. The former is dictatorship and the later the rule of law.
