Prof Lungu, the issue of whether Kalyppo is a healthy drink or not is a different discourse altogether.

Julius Debrah's rhetoric was not meant to address any health concerns about Kalyppo, if any, but rather a sarcasm in response to a political taunting of the opposition leader by the governing party, gone wrong.

NDC is running a-non-issue based politics. Ghana has many challenges which require a serious-minded leadership to tackle, but NDC seems oblivious of it, and only concerned about getting re-elected.

I saw some seriousness in socio-economic issues in practical terms during Pres. Kufour's NPP time in office( but as at now, all has, but dissipated). Ghana requires that kind of efforts from whichever government that gets the mandate. In my opinion so far, NDC has fallen short of that political will, expediency and competency. Instead, political discourses are trivialized into even "kalyppolitics" and sarcasm by NDC. Such JOKES are not worth-entertaining or required at any point in our political dispensation.

They are made from concentrates which are loaded with sugar - the worst form of sugar which is corn syrup fructose. This form of sugar is very dangerous for our bodies. No one is being forced to stop drinking kalypo, but Julius advice is worth heeding. High consumption of these fruit juices causes inflammation in your body which eventually can manifest in diseases such as diabetes cancer etc. Mr Debra owes no one any apology.

Too much sugar intake is the key to obesity (wait gain)and not good for diabetics. There are several studies that support that and a good reference is Dr. Ludwig's, (MD, PhD at Harvard University) book, "Always Hungry".

Reading the ingredient list of the Kalyppo fruit juice box, it states that it contains sucrose, in effect Apple and orange juices can contain about five teaspoons of sugar per cup, and grape juice double that amount of sugar. The sucrose added in the Kalyppo juice box is a sweetner and not naturally occurring and therefore not 100% fruit juice.It is far better to eat whole fruits than to drink juice boxes. We should watch out for childhood obesity and onset of type 2 diabetes in our adults from too much sugar.I expect the Ghana Medical Association to provide an advisory

It is one advert that I normally laugh at, an advert teaching what, good moral or what? One driver's mate was demanding the full lorry fare from one woman who boarded his vehicle (trotro) with her little girl... she failed to pay or could not pay the full fare and her little daughter has to offer the fruit juice to the mate as a 'cool-off' for the mate. The mate after collecting the pack fruit finally let them go.

Analyzing the advert…..I can’t think far. I would clearly interpret it as a bribe.

Why should old men like Akufo-Addo at their ripe ages be drinking that?
They are misleading some innocent poor men and women who may not have the money to treat diabetics and its related sicknesses.
With a hind sight, I was thinking the NPP was deceiving the manufacturers with that for sponsorship because they are cash trap.
Leave the Chief of Staff alone… he is giving good advice to our elderly men and women. He is a good patriot, good brother, good father, etc. He cannot see his compatriots to die out of preventable diseases of the sort.
When many of us know that at age 40 and beyond excess sugar is poisonous to your health. What are we talking about?
They cannot sacrifice their health for the sake of politics ….. for Akufo-Addo.

Hello, our dear country has been flooded with sugary drinks that are currently being disallowed in almost all developed countries.
These drinks including soft drinks (soda pops) are blamed for Obesity, Adult onset diabetes (diabetes #2), tooth decay, etc;.
Mr. Debrah is right to warn adults to refrain from drinking them. We must thanks our God that such an honest warning had been made by him.

It is very sad that NPP and their Abayifa Karbo are trying to condemn Debra for speaking the very truth about these dangerous sugar drinks>
NPP for their want of money would want to introduce, manufacture, and/or import very dangerous and unhealthy foods for their fellow Ghanaian citizens to consume and get ill and even kill them prematurely.
This is rather shameful!
