There was near pandemonium and confusion at the Annual Global African Investment Forum held in Westminster, Central London after a heated exchange between Ghana’s President John Mahama and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo degenerated into open insults.This was due to General Obasanjo openly accusing the Ghanaian president and his government of blackmailing and collecting bribes from Nigerian businessmen in Ghana, buying numerous properties in Nigeria and South Africa and financially contributing 12 million dollars to Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign last year. This infuriated President Mahama who lost his temper and pointing his finger, called General Obasanjo an ” idiot” and a “silly buffoon”.It took other ministers present as well as Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to calm tempers and usher President Mahama to a nearby room. The forum, which takes place from 1st to 3rd December is attended by African Heads of States, Ministers, Private equity firms and investors to discuss opportunities for investment and development in African Economies.

This is the ugly truth about the rot in the system (many more have been swept under the carpet). My criticism of the current government is premised on the fact that JDM has totally deviated from the core values of true statesmen – truth, honesty, integrity, justice, probity and accountability. There is the need to re-engage and focus on these values. so we are changing him. The loot and share must stop! The uncivilized tendency to insult and vilify those who do not endorse the current ways of doing things must stop! Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments should not be changed for light or transient causes. But when a government decides to put aside our values and superintend over corruption and ineptitude, it is the right, it is the duty of the people to throw off such government in 2016 elections.

Why is it that they only see the crowds in the Volta region and not the huge crowds following the president in the Eastern region? Let them dream on until they are overtaken by events. These people never learn any lessons after the euphoria of 2008 and 2012. The December elections will not be won by media gimmicks and false prophesizing. Any politician of substance who goes to the northern and remote parts of the Volta region will surely have crowds of their own supporters, but more of curious onlookers and observers whose presence is just to while away time. If this is what the NPP is relying on, then God save them. Time will tell, but all I can say is that the NDC will win BIG in the Volta Region.
