There was near pandemonium and confusion at the Annual Global African Investment Forum held in Westminster, Central London after a heated exchange between Ghana’s President John Mahama and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo degenerated into open insults.This was due to General Obasanjo openly accusing the Ghanaian president and his government of blackmailing and collecting bribes from Nigerian businessmen in Ghana, buying numerous properties in Nigeria and South Africa and financially contributing 12 million dollars to Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign last year. This infuriated President Mahama who lost his temper and pointing his finger, called General Obasanjo an ” idiot” and a “silly buffoon”.It took other ministers present as well as Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to calm tempers and usher President Mahama to a nearby room. The forum, which takes place from 1st to 3rd December is attended by African Heads of States, Ministers, Private equity firms and investors to discuss opportunities for investment and development in African Economies.

Your presidential candidate himself has many dubious activities surrounding him. Only time will tell before you become aware.

When this current EC was commissioned, some people stoop up to demand that Ghanaians come together and check the set up, as there was every indication that we were being led to the gallows. However, most people sat on the bottocks and declared: "It is not my palaver. Let them deal with their suspicions any which way they can!"
We now know that we all missed a good opportunity to prevent an impending doom. It is now upon us! Can we trust the courts to be of any use? Past experience would say a big 'Nay'! But we still live to see!!

When you deliberately asked one person to subscribe to you twice in different regions, you expect the Peace Council to come and usurp the powers of the EC? You think we are in a beauty contest.

Unfortunately, EC is in a very tight corner as the election is about 6 weeks away. Why has the timetable for the electoral process been too tight for EC leaving a very little room to manoeuvre ?

Why should the Peace Council interfere in a case that you have taken to Court and waiting adjudication?
Is this woman for real? The simple matter at stake here is whether or not the disqualified candidates obeyed the Laws. And if they did not, they have no right to fault the Peace Council for its silence.
The candidates are the first among us to take our Institutions seriously. And if they haphazardly processed their applications, it shows that they would not take our governance seriously, should they have stayed in the Elections and won.
We are talking about the fate of millions of Ghanaians. Our lives are what are at stake in the Elections, as remotely as it may sound.
If the candidates could not be diligent enough to correct the mistakes that were found with their applications, after all the long time the EC gave them to double-check, they should have themselves to blame. And the Peace Council must be left out of it.
If the Lady insists on the intervention of the Peace Council, then it presupposes she and her cohorts are considering acts of violence to disrupt our Peace and the State Security Agencies must invite her for questioning.

It is not the role of the Council to intervene in legal matters, and the Council's mandate is not an alternative to the machinery of law and order -- i.e. the police and the courts. Deal with your wahala and leave the Peace Council out of this.
