There was near pandemonium and confusion at the Annual Global African Investment Forum held in Westminster, Central London after a heated exchange between Ghana’s President John Mahama and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo degenerated into open insults.This was due to General Obasanjo openly accusing the Ghanaian president and his government of blackmailing and collecting bribes from Nigerian businessmen in Ghana, buying numerous properties in Nigeria and South Africa and financially contributing 12 million dollars to Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign last year. This infuriated President Mahama who lost his temper and pointing his finger, called General Obasanjo an ” idiot” and a “silly buffoon”.It took other ministers present as well as Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to calm tempers and usher President Mahama to a nearby room. The forum, which takes place from 1st to 3rd December is attended by African Heads of States, Ministers, Private equity firms and investors to discuss opportunities for investment and development in African Economies.

Ghanaians want someone they can trusts not some playmate as President. We are tired of this indecisive NATO (No Action, Talk Only) President, who has an excuse and different story for each and every failed promise. Sometimes it is the global economy, at other times it is the election petition, sometimes it is opposition lies and propaganda, redenomination, then most annoying the President now wants us to believe we are either too blind or too short to see the socalled achievements of his government. This is a man who told the people in Ashanti that if even their roads were paved with gold, and told Volta, Eastern and Western region chiefs that their complains about bad roads were totally false.

Dr. Bawumia through a series of lectures has established his brand credibility.. NDC should rather focus on positive policy and issues. I am not sure the branding consultants explained to the NDC that in successful brand differentiation in marketing , three strategic elements must align. The message, the audience and the messenger. Unfortunately NDC has no credible messengers with the credibility to make any negative message stick on Dr. Bawumia. He has developed a teflon credibility and any efforts to destroy his credibility will rather build his political brand. Sadly, NDC Bolshevik style propaganda approach to communicating has resulted in all their surrogates being put in a basket of liars brigade. But for their party base most independents see their vitriolic poses as just noise. May I suggest NDC go back and collect a discount for the consulting fees from the South Africans regarding the credibility attack strategy. You have encumbancy negatives ( a record) that is fresh in the minds of voters.Br. Bawumia has no such negatives. His credibility record is based on what he has saidregarding BDC government of the economy. The most effective competitive strategy is to match wits with his assertions and prove him wrong . Otherwise efforts to discredit his person will fail. This is marketing 2.0. ( no charge).
