  The successful issuance and subscription of diaspora bonds is first dependent on whether the Ghanaian Diaspora trusts their government. With perceived lack of prudence in some projects, it is quite likely that such a bond will not be successful until a conscious effort is made to ensure that the transparency of such projects is clearly affirmed.
  
  Secondly, there is the need for the bond to be tied to specific economic projects with clear returns on investments. The Ethiopians have been doing such for a US$4 billion hydro-electric dam and it has so far been successful because the Diaspora know the return on investment and is confident of the government exercising prudence in its projects. We may not be able to say the same of Ghana.
