  There are several of them living abroad. I know of at least 3 Ghanaian Neurosurgeons outside Ghana. Provide better working conditions and they'll come home.

  Neurosurgery involves much more than degenerative diseases of the spine. The breakdown in Ghana is up to 50% degenerative spine disease; 25% brain and spine tumors and 25-30% for trauma (brain and spine injuries) pediatric problems (such as hydrocephalus, spina bifida), brain infections and "stroke". The more than 80% of degenerative spine disease quoted is inaccurate and possibly due to poor recognition of and poor data on other important life threatening neurosurgical conditions.
