Most of the things he took credit for had been started by the British, our colonial masters. For instance Tema Motorway was on the drawing board when he took over and Akosombo Dam was not his brainchild. KNUST was established by Asantehene and the British. Surprisingly, most of the things he took credit for were never initiated by him
Independence, for instance, was sought for by many but achieved under the aegis and cunningness of Francis Kofi Nwiah, trickster and schemer extraordinaire. Well, all along I have been asking how and under what circumstances "Francis Kofi Nwiah" was able to change his name to "Kwame Nkrumah". I know that it is permissible for anybody to change his name anytime he or she wishes but it is strange and beyond comprehension for one to change his birthday from Friday to Saturday ie from Kofi to Kwame. This is what makes me suspicious of Kofi Nwiah or Kwame Nkrumah. He claimed that his date of birth was 21st September 1909. This day according to the 20th century Calendar was a Tuesday!!! So was Nkrumah born on a Tuesday, a Friday or a Saturday? We must find out what he was up to with all these very strange findings. He was indeed cunning and only preyed on the emotions of the Ghanaian masses. It was my wish that President Mills would set up a committee to investigate before declaring Nkrumah's "unknown" birthday a holiday.
When he took over we had trade surplus running into millions of Pound Sterling but when he was forced out we had a trade deficit of several million pounds sterling!! This was the result of bad governance. He should have been overthrown earlier than 1966. We all saw good governance under K4. To me K4 is the best president Ghana has ever had. Kuffour is the greatest. We thank Kotoka and Afrifa for stoping the dictator in his tracks. Ayekoo Kotoka and Afrifa. The Kotoka Air Port should never be renamed.
Look at how the Thief-in-Chief, John Mahama is messing up things for Ghanaians. He is now worth over $900 Million and his brothers are the richest in Ghana. Don’t Ghanaians have the right to ask these guys the source of their worth?? Time will tell.

History it is often argued does not exactly repeat itself. However, those who ignore the lessons of History will find themselves in peril. In 1960, when Ghana was thinking of moving towards a Republican State, the opposition let by Dr J.B. Danquah strongly accused then Prime Minister Nkrumah as a "rebel" against the British Crown for calling for a Republican State and vehemently oppossed the move for Ghana becoming a Republic for the opposition still wanted the Queen of England to continue to be the Head of State of Ghana. After a lot of wrangling back and forth from both sides, the Republican Constitution was finally put to a plebiscite and another vote for President of the Republic.The CPP put up Prime Minister Nkrumah for President and the United Party(UP) put up Dr J.B. Danquah. There was a sense of paradox here on the side of the opposition who had earlier condemned and villified Nkrumah for calling for a Republican State against the authority of the Queen of England. On the two days of polling on April 23 and 27, 1960 under the watchful eyes of the Brits and other international observers, the final results were thus--YES for Republican Constitution 88.5% No againts Republican Constitution 11.5%. NKRUMAH FOR PRESIDENT 89.1% and DANQUAH FOR PRESIDENT 10.9%. On July 1, 1960 Prime Minister Nkrumah was duly sworn in as the first President of the first Republic. After this 4th election defeat(1951,1954,1956,1960) the opposition resorted once again to their stock in trade i.e. violence only this time by bomb explosions. After a series of bomb explosions in the capital city of Accra against Nkrumah and the CPP, a very bold attempt to get rid of Nkrumah occurred on August 1, 1962 in a small Northern Ghana town of KULUNGUGU. On this particular day, President Nkrumah had made a stopover in the town after a visit to Upper Volta(now Burkina Faso) at the invitation of then President Maurice Yameogo. As Nkrumah got out of his car to greet a group of young primary school children, one of whom was waiting with a bouquet of flowers for the President, a hand granade was thrown at the President and those around him. The subsequent explosion killed a number of people including some of the school children and a police body gaurd who was close to the President and over fifty others were wounded. The President, was lucky to escape with minor fragment wounds but obviously shaken to the core. Trasnfixed before the carnage, shaking uncontrollably Nkrumah cried out with wet eyes----"they want to kill me,they want to kill me." A week after this incident, another bomb exploded at Dodowa, and another at the CPP Headquarters and yet another in front of the gates of the Flagstaff House in which an eleven years old girl was killed and a number of other people wounded. Other attempts to kill the President followed and perhaps the boldest occurred on 1st January 1964(new years day) in the President's own residence. Nkrumah had this to say-----"on 1st January 1964, another attempt was made on my life. On this occassion it was a policeman who actually made the attempt. It was at 1pm in the garden of the Flagstaff House. I was leaving the office to go for lunch when four shots were fired at me by one of the policemen on guard duty. He was no marksman, though his fifth shot succeeded in killing Salifu Dagarti a loyal security officer who run towards the would be assassin." NPP, Nkrumah's ghost is after you in Ghana.
